This position requires excellent communication, accuracy, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm when handling urgent or emergency calls.Key ResponsibilitiesTelephone and Call Center OperationsOperate the AMCOM PC operator workstation to receive, route, and place internal and external calls in accordance with established procedures.Provide reliable telephone coverage using the features of the AMCOM Call Center application.Deliver courteous, accurate, and professional service to callers.Paging-System SupportInitiate pages through computer, long-range radio, and overhead paging systems.Operate radio paging equipment in compliance with FCC regulations.Program necessary changes in the Zetron paging system.Assist with Zetron testing, pager configuration, troubleshooting, and database updates.Maintain accurate records of local calls and paging activity.Provide timely customer service to paging-system users.Emergency CommunicationsRespond to medical emergencies, fires, bomb threats, disasters, and other urgent situations.Follow established emergency-response, escalation, and notification procedures.Manually count fire-alarm bells when required.Follow up on emergency calls and confirm that all required notifications have been completed.Document emergency events for reporting to the Emergency Preparedness Committee.Remain calm, accurate, and professional while handling high-pressure situations.On-Call Schedule ManagementReceive departmental on-call schedules and enter them accurately into the AMCOM system.Ensure schedule information is available to evening, overnight, and weekend staff.Transfer on-call information to the employee website.Complete schedule transcription promptly and accurately.Answering-Service SupportReceive physician answering-service information.Enter information accurately into the AMCOM system for use by evening, overnight, and weekend staff.Maintain timely and accurate answering-service records.Administrative and Clerical SupportPrepare telephone toll and message-unit charge tickets.Replace batteries in paging units as necessary.Transmit Telex messages and distribute incoming messages to the appropriate departments.Respond to TTY communications for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.Support inventory management, financial tracking, message delivery, and other clerical or operational activities as assigned.Problem and Trouble-Call ManagementReceive, document, and forward after-hours trouble calls.Follow established procedures when responding to telecommunications-related and other reported issues.Escalate problems to the appropriate department or contact when necessary.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.Relevant experience is preferred; entry-level candidates may be considered, subject to client review.Strong verbal communication and customer-service skills.Ability to enter and transcribe information accurately.Ability to follow detailed procedures and escalation protocols.Ability to remain composed and exercise sound judgment during emergencies.Basic computer and clerical skills.Willingness and ability to work evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, or holidays when required.Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience as a telephone operator, switchboard operator, call center representative, dispatcher, receptionist, or answering-service representative.Experience using AMCOM, Zetron, paging, switchboard, or emergency-notification systems.Experience working in a hospital, healthcare facility, or other high-volume environment.
