Position Overview:To provide high-quality, evidence-based inpatient and outpatient oncology care under the supervision of Consultant and Senior Specialist Medical Oncologists, supporting the delivery of comprehensive cancer services across King's College Hospital. The post holder will assist in the assessment, investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with malignant and benign haematological and oncological conditions within granted clinical privileges.The role supports consultants in coordinating patient care across inpatient, outpatient, day-care, and emergency settings, ensuring timely clinical review, continuity of care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and adherence to established clinical pathways, hospital policies, and international best practices. The post holder is expected to participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, medical education, and service development while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, professionalism, and compassionate care.Key Accountabilities:ClinicalProvide comprehensive assessment, investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of oncology patients within the scope of granted clinical privileges and under consultant supervision.Support Consultant and Senior Specialist Medical Oncologists in the day-to-day management of inpatient, outpatient, and day-care oncology services.Conduct daily ward rounds, review patient progress, and coordinate ongoing management plans in collaboration with the supervising consultant.Recognise and initiate management of oncology-related emergencies, ensuring timely escalation to senior clinicians.Monitor patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapies and supportive treatments, identifying treatment-related complications and coordinating appropriate management.Coordinate multidisciplinary care with surgical, radiation oncology, haematology, pharmacy, palliative care, radiology, pathology, nursing, and allied health teams.Clinical Governance & Personal DevelopmentAttend relevant departmental meetings, MDTs, and clinical discussions unless on approved leave.Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and risk reporting.Maintain active involvement in clinical governance, incident reporting, and improvement planning.Uphold Good Medical Practice as per UAE licensing authorities and UK standards.Maintain up-to-date CPD activities, courses, and study days in line with revalidation requirements.AdministrativeEffectively manage own time, workload and resources.Comply with the UAE medical health authorities’ requirements in order to maintain medical licence.Contribute to the development and maintenance of computer-based patient records.Ensure confidentiality in all aspects of data management relating to patients, carers, colleagues, and other healthcare workers.Maintain business confidentiality outside the organisation with respect to financial, clinical and administrative activities of King’s College Hospital & Clinics.Ensure proper escalation and documentation of adverse events, near misses, or complex cases.ManagerialAssume other administrative or clinical duties as neededBe willing to deputise and delegate when appropriate.Support colleagues with the smooth running of the Hospital & Clinics by providing cover and assistance, during periods of absence.Welcome calls (although infrequent) from the management team, and physician on duty while out of working hours.Participate in orientation of new junior staff when requested.Assist in the financial management of King’s College Hospital & Clinics-. by:Working effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients’ needs.Utilising the organisation’s resources appropriately and efficiently.Whilst at all times looking ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to agreed standards continually review working practices to provide the most efficient use of resources.Education & Qualification, Experience, Training, Knowledge & SkillEducation & QualificationUAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).MBBS RequiredMaster’s degree/Post Graduation/ Diploma in related specialty is an advantage.ExperienceMinimum 3–5 years of post-qualification clinical experience in Medical Oncology within an acute hospital setting, with experience in the management of inpatient and outpatient oncology patients.Experience working within a multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of systemic anti-cancer therapies, oncology emergencies, and evidence-based cancer care under consultant supervision.
