Role Description The Director role at HDFC Bank is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The Director will provide strategic leadership for key business portfolios, set and monitor performance objectives, and ensure alignment with the bank’s long-term growth and customer-centric vision. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing business operations, managing risk and compliance, driving revenue and profitability, and optimizing processes for efficiency and service quality. The role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, mentoring senior managers, and representing the bank in internal and external stakeholder engagements. The Director will also be expected to champion digital innovation, support regulatory adherence, and uphold the bank’s values and commitment to responsible banking and community impact.QualificationsStrong strategic planning, business leadership, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.Expertise in financial services, including retail and corporate banking, risk management, and regulatory compliance within the Indian banking environment.Proficiency in data-driven management, including financial analysis, performance tracking, and use of analytics to guide business decisions.Experience leading large teams, with skills in people management, coaching, and developing high-performing, inclusive work cultures.Capability in digital transformation and process improvement, including familiarity with digital banking platforms and customer experience enhancement.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage senior leadership, regulators, partners, and clients.Postgraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline; professional certifications in banking or risk management are an advantage.Significant leadership experience in banking or financial services, ideally in a director-level or equivalent role, with a strong record of delivering results.
