Director of Human ResourcesLuxury Lifestyle Hotel | Silicon Valley, CaliforniaWe are seeking an experienced, strategic, and people-focused Director of Human Resources to join the executive leadership team of a beautiful luxury lifestyle hotel in Silicon Valley. This hands-on leader will oversee all aspects of human resources while fostering a positive workplace culture, developing talent, and ensuring compliance with California employment laws.The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen with a genuine passion for hospitality and understands that exceptional guest experiences begin with engaged, motivated employees.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Talent DevelopmentPartner with the General Manager and Executive Committee to align HR strategies with hotel objectives.Lead recruitment, onboarding, employee retention, succession planning, and leadership development.Establish HR performance metrics focused on retention, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.Coach department leaders on performance management, employee development, and accountability.Employee Relations & CultureFoster a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven workplace culture.Manage employee relations, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters.Develop employee recognition, engagement, and retention initiatives.Serve as a trusted advisor to management and associates.Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with federal, California, and applicable local employment laws.Oversee wage-and-hour compliance, leave administration, workplace safety, harassment prevention, and personnel policies.Maintain accurate employee records and coordinate HR-related legal matters when necessary.Compensation, Benefits & AdministrationOversee compensation, benefits administration, HR systems, and personnel records.Partner with Finance and department leaders on labor planning, payroll, and workforce budgeting.Ensure competitive compensation practices and efficient HR operations.

Qualifications

5–7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.HR leadership experience in a full-service, luxury, or upscale lifestyle hotel strongly preferred.Strong knowledge of California employment laws and HR compliance requirements.Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills.Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.Ideal Candidate:We are looking for more than an HR administrator.
