HR Manager | Insurance Industry | Full-Time Commack main office location & Bayside, NY secondary office 1-2 days as needed (Position is in-Person)Private Staff Group is seeking a highly experienced HR Manager to join a well-established insurance organization. This is a hands-on generalist role for a seasoned HR professional with 10 to 20 years of experience who can operate independently across both strategic and administrative HR functions in a fast-paced, regulated environment.What you'll do:Investigate and resolve employee complaints, workplace conflicts, and lead workplace investigations as neededPartner with managers on performance issues, including Performance Improvement PlansSupport salary planning, calculate merit increases, and administer leave and time-off programsProcess semi-monthly payroll and verify timecardsManage full-cycle recruitment, from sourcing and screening through offer letters and onboardingMaintain the Employee Handbook and ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local labor lawMonitor staffing levels, analyze turnover trends, and build quarterly schedulesTrack professional license renewals for licensed staffWho we're looking for:10 to 20 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within insurance, financial services, or another regulated industryWorking knowledge of ADP and Workday, or comparable HRIS/payroll platformsStrong understanding of ACA compliance, leave administration, and employment lawPHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification a plusComfortable operating as a standalone or lead HR function with minimal oversightThe ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment and takes genuine ownership of the employee experience from day one.
