This is a hands-on HR leadership role based in Houston, Texas, with responsibility for HR operations in Houston as well as HR compliance and employee relations support for California-based employees.

- Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and managers
- Handle employee relations matters, workplace complaints, and investigations
- Advise management on performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Oversee timekeeping, PTO, and payroll coordination
- Ensure compliance with federal, Texas, and California employment laws
- Review wage and hour practices, employee classifications, final pay procedures, and California-specific requirements
- Administer employee benefits and coordinate with external providers
- Maintain and improve HR policies, employee handbooks, and HR processes
- Partner with external employment counsel when appropriate
- Coach managers on employee communication, documentation, and HR best practices
- Occasionally travel to California to support employees and compliance needsRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience in the U.S.
- Hands-on HR experience supporting employees in both Texas and California
- Strong knowledge of federal, Texas, and California employment laws
- HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Demonstrated experience handling employee relations, workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Experience with payroll processes and external payroll vendors
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent EnglishPreferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification
- Experience building or improving HR processes in a small or growing organization
