We supply, sell, install, maintain, repair and service a range of cranes and lifting equipment for industrial and commercial applications.Our focus is on providing customers with safe, reliable and practical lifting solutions, supported by strong technical expertise and responsive after-sales service.We are looking for an experienced Hydraulic / Crane Technician to join our team in Heidelberg. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on hydraulic experience, particularly in the maintenance, fault-finding and repair of hydraulic systems used on cranes and heavy equipment.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role based in Heidelberg, with regular field service work at customer sites.The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of hydraulic systems, cranes and lifting equipment.Key responsibilities will include:Diagnosing and troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical and control-system faults on cranes and lifting equipment.Working hands-on with hydraulic systems, hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, hoses, valve banks, control valves and related components.Fault-finding and repairing hydraulic systems and identifying the root cause of hydraulic failures.Removing, repairing, replacing and commissioning hydraulic components where required.Servicing and maintaining cranes and lifting equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new cranes and hydraulic equipment.Carrying out preventative maintenance and inspections.Conducting field service work at customer sites and responding to breakdowns when required.Completing service reports and clearly communicating findings, repairs and recommendations to supervisors and customers.Assisting customers with technical queries and providing practical solutions to equipment problems.Maintaining tools, service equipment and company vehicles in good working condition.Following all company safety procedures and applicable regulations.Communicating with suppliers regarding hydraulic components, crane parts and related equipment.Comparing supplier pricing, availability and lead times to assist with purchasing decisions.Working closely with the Rhinomec team to complete projects and service work efficiently and professionally.Qualifications & ExperienceMinimum 5 years’ experience working with hydraulic systems, cranes, lifting equipment or heavy equipment.Strong practical experience in hydraulic fault-finding and repairs.Proven experience working with valve banks, hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, control valves and hydraulic circuits.Experience diagnosing hydraulic problems and understanding hydraulic schematics.Experience working on truck-mounted cranes, loader cranes or other lifting equipment will be highly advantageous.Experience in field service work, including on-site diagnostics, repairs and customer interaction.Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, electrical diagrams, technical drawings and equipment manuals.Knowledge of electrical and control systems associated with hydraulic equipment.Experience with preventative maintenance, servicing and equipment inspections.Relevant technical qualification, apprenticeship or trade qualification in hydraulics, mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance will be advantageous.Strong commitment to safety and correct use of PPE.Ability to work independently, solve problems and take responsibility for assigned work.Good communication and organisational skills.Valid driver’s licence.Willingness to travel locally for field service assignments.
