Our multidisciplinary team of hydraulic engineers, civil engineers, researchers, model makers and technicians works closely with project developers, consultants and government agencies to provide reliable, practical and technically sound hydraulic solutions.Role: Hydraulic Engineer – Spillway & Dam EngineeringLocation: Pune, MaharashtraEmployment Type: Full-time, On-siteQualification: B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Civil Engineering – Hydraulics / Water Resources or related disciplineWe are looking for a Hydraulic Engineer with a strong interest in spillway and dam engineering, hydraulic design, physical hydraulic modelling, technical drawings and experimental studies.The engineer will be involved in the complete project cycle—from understanding the hydraulic design and preparing calculations and drawings to planning physical model studies, supervising experiments, analysing results and preparing technical reports.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, review and optimize spillways, stilling basins, energy dissipation arrangements, outlets, gates, waterways, river training works and other hydraulic structures.Perform hydraulic calculations related to open-channel flow, pressure flow, energy dissipation, flow transitions and hydraulic structures.Prepare and review hydraulic layouts, engineering drawings and technical details using AutoCAD or equivalent software.Plan and supervise physical hydraulic model studies in the laboratory.Assist in model design, model construction planning, instrumentation and experimental setup.Conduct and supervise hydraulic experiments and analyse experimental data.Compare prototype design requirements with physical model observations and measurements.Interpret hydraulic performance parameters such as water levels, velocities, pressures, discharge, flow patterns, energy dissipation and hydraulic jumps.Prepare technical calculations, drawings, presentations and hydraulic model study reports.Review existing and proposed hydraulic designs and recommend modifications wherever required.Coordinate with project engineers, consultants, clients and laboratory teams.Participate in site visits, inspections and technical discussions as required.Maintain proper documentation, quality control and experimental records.Contribute to improving laboratory methodologies, engineering procedures and best practices in hydraulic engineering.Required Qualifications & SkillsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulics, Water Resources Engineering or a closely related discipline.Strong fundamentals in Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics, Open Channel Flow and Hydraulic Structures.Understanding of dam and spillway design, energy dissipation systems and hydraulic structure operation.Basic understanding of hydrology and design flood concepts.Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and hydraulic layouts.Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to interpret experimental data and prepare technical conclusions.Good technical report-writing and documentation skills.Willingness to work on-site in a hydraulic laboratory environment and participate in physical experiments.Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, model fabrication teams and project consultants.Desirable / Additional SkillsExperience or knowledge of the following will be an advantage:AutoCAD / Civil 3D or equivalent technical drawing software.HEC-RAS – 1D/2D hydraulic modelling.Bentley HAMMER – transient analysis / water hammer.CFD modelling and computational hydraulics.HEC-HMS or other hydrological modelling tools.GIS and terrain modelling.MS Excel and engineering data analysis.Physical hydraulic modelling and model-prototype relationships.Experience with dams, spillways, barrages, hydropower projects or river engineering.What You Will GainThis role provides an opportunity to work on challenging and technically diverse water-resources and dam engineering projects, combining:Hydraulic Design → Engineering Drawings → Physical Model Studies → Experimental Investigation → Data Analysis → Technical RecommendationsThe position is particularly suited to engineers who want to develop strong practical expertise in hydraulic structures and physical hydraulic modelling, while working on real infrastructure projects in India and internationally.Candidate ProfileWe are looking for someone who is:Technically curious and willing to learn.Strong in engineering fundamentals.Comfortable working both at a computer and in a laboratory environment.Detail-oriented and systematic in engineering analysis.Able to take responsibility for assigned technical work.Comfortable communicating with project teams and clients.Interested in developing a long-term career in hydraulic and dam engineering.Join InfraPlan Hydraulic Laboratory and work at the intersection of hydraulic design, physical modelling, experimentation and real-world water infrastructure.
