Hydraulic Engineer

GWIC is looking for an experienced Hydraulic Engineer – Urban Infrastructure to join our Lisbon office and strengthen our international engineering team.The selected professional will contribute to the development, design and coordination of major urban infrastructure, water supply, sanitation, drainage and climate-resilient infrastructure projects, including assignments financed by international development institutions.We are particularly interested in professionals with solid experience in World Bank-financed projects and strong technical capabilities in the hydraulic modelling and design of urban water infrastructure.Key responsibilities and candidate profile:Degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Water Engineering or related field;More than 10 years of relevant professional experience;Strong experience in the design and development of urban hydraulic infrastructure projects;Proven experience in projects financed by the World Bank is essential;Strong practical experience with EPANET, including hydraulic modelling, analysis and optimisation of pressurised water distribution networks;Experience in the design and modelling of water supply networks, pumping systems, reservoirs, transmission mains and distribution systems;Experience in sewerage, wastewater systems, stormwater drainage, urban drainage and flood mitigation will be highly valued;Ability to undertake and review hydraulic and hydrological studies;Experience in the preparation and review of feasibility studies, detailed designs, technical specifications, bills of quantities and tender documentation;Experience in infrastructure projects implemented under international development programmes;Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and interface with clients, public authorities and international financing institutions;Strong technical reporting and communication skills;Good command of English and Portuguese;Professional registration with the Ordem dos Engenheiros or an equivalent recognised professional body will be valued;Experience with World Bank procedures, FIDIC contracts and international procurement frameworks will be considered a strong advantage;Knowledge of complementary hydraulic/GIS/design software will also be valued;Availability to work from our Lisbon office, with occasional international travel as required.
