Apply & track with Apply EdgeAbout the jobGWIC is looking for an experienced Hydraulic Engineer – Urban Infrastructure to join our Stellenbosch office in the Western Cape and strengthen our growing Southern Africa engineering team.The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, design and technical coordination of major water, sanitation, drainage and climate-resilient urban infrastructure projects in South Africa and across the wider Southern African region, including assignments financed by governments, municipalities and international development institutions.We are particularly interested in professionals with strong technical capabilities in hydraulic modelling, water infrastructure design and multidisciplinary infrastructure delivery, ideally with exposure to internationally financed projects.Key Responsibilities and Candidate ProfileDegree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Water Engineering or a related discipline;Preferably more than 10 years of relevant professional experience;Professional registration with ECSA (PrEng or PrTechEng) will be highly valued;Strong experience in the planning and design of urban hydraulic and municipal infrastructure;Strong practical experience with EPANET or equivalent hydraulic modelling software, including analysis and optimisation of pressurised water distribution networks;Experience in the design and modelling of:Water supply and distribution networks;Bulk and transmission pipelines;Pumping stations and pumping systems;Reservoirs and storage infrastructure;Pressure zones and network optimisation;Experience in sewerage, wastewater infrastructure, stormwater drainage, urban drainage and flood mitigation will be highly valued;Ability to undertake and review hydraulic and hydrological studies;Experience in the preparation and review of feasibility studies, concept designs, detailed designs, technical specifications, Bills of Quantities and tender documentation;Knowledge of applicable South African engineering standards, municipal requirements and design practices;Experience in infrastructure projects implemented under World Bank, African Development Bank, DBSA or other international development programmes will be considered a strong advantage;Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and international procurement frameworks will also be valued;Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and interface with clients, municipalities, public authorities, contractors and other stakeholders;Strong technical reporting, problem-solving and communication skills;Fluency in English is essential;Knowledge of additional languages will be considered an advantage;Experience with complementary GIS, hydraulic, hydrological and civil design software will be valued;Proactive, collaborative and delivery-oriented approach;Availability to work from our Stellenbosch office, Western Cape, with occasional travel within South Africa and internationally as required.Why Join GWIC?GWIC is an international engineering and consulting group working across Africa, Europe and the Americas, delivering engineering, project management, supervision and advisory services for major infrastructure projects.This role offers the opportunity to become part of our growing Southern Africa platform, working on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects and collaborating with GWIC teams and specialists across different international markets.📍 Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa📩 Interested candidates are invited to apply through LinkedIn and submit an updated CV.GWIC | Engineering the Future
