Applicants can expect a workplace that emphasizes compliance with safety standards, clear communication, and consistent service delivery.Role Description The Hydraulic Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Potchefstroom, responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing hydraulic systems and related mechanical components. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting equipment, diagnosing faults in hydraulic circuits, performing repairs and replacements of hoses, pumps, valves, and cylinders, and conducting routine preventive maintenance. The role also involves reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals, performing system tests to confirm repair quality, and documenting work performed in maintenance records. The Hydraulic Mechanic will collaborate closely with other technicians and supervisors to prioritize work orders, ensure adherence to safety protocols, and minimize equipment downtime for clients and internal operations.Qualifications Strong experience working with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of pumps, valves, cylinders, and hoses.Solid mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial equipment, tools, and basic fabrication or assembly techniques.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, hydraulic schematics, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications.Knowledge of relevant safety standards, safe work practices, and proper use of personal protective equipment.Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, technicians, and clients on-site.Relevant trade qualification, technical certificate, or equivalent practical experience in mechanics, hydraulics, or a related field.Willingness to work on-site in Potchefstroom, occasionally perform overtime or emergency call-outs, and operate in physically demanding conditions.
