Ice Plant Mechanic

We are seeking an experienced Ice Plant Mechanic to join our Plant Maintenance team in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of industrial ice plant and chiller refrigeration systems, ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient production with minimal downtime.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial ice plants, chillers, and refrigeration systemsInspect, service, and repair mechanical components including gearboxes, shafts, cutters, racks, screws, and conveyor mechanismsService and overhaul reciprocating and screw compressors, including oil replacement, refrigerant charging and recovery, filter replacement, and internal mechanical inspectionsClean and maintain water-cooled condensers and cooling towers, including replacement of drip eliminatorsInspect refrigeration circuits and repair leaks in joints, valves, piping, fittings, and sealsTroubleshoot mechanical and electronic faults to minimize equipment downtimeInterpret PLC alarms, operating parameters, and fault codes to diagnose system issuesUse electrical testing instruments to inspect motors, starters, contactors, solenoids, and control circuitsReplace defective components including expansion valves, pressure regulators, solenoid valves, motors, bearings, seals, and pumpsSafely perform shutdown, startup, commissioning, and restart of ice plant and chiller systemsMaintain maintenance records, equipment history, and service reportsEnsure compliance with safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements, and environmental regulationsCoordinate with the Maintenance Planner or Team Leader to schedule activities with minimal disruptionRespond promptly to emergency breakdowns to restore productionQualifications and ExperienceDiploma, ITI, or Technical Certificate in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldMinimum 5 years of experience in industrial refrigeration or ice plant maintenanceExperience with KTI ice plants highly preferredWorking knowledge of PLC-controlled refrigeration equipmentAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawingsSound knowledge of refrigerant handling, recovery, charging, and leak detectionStrong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systemsGood communication skills in EnglishHow to ApplyInterested candidates who meet the above criteria are invited to apply directly through LinkedIn using the "Easy Apply" button, or submit their CV to qatarhr2019@gmail.com with the subject line "Ice Plant Mechanic Application."
