IMPORT & EXPORT MANAGER

Job ResponsibilitiesTake full responsibility for the internal operations of the import/export documentation and clearance team.Establish clear division of roles and responsibilities within the team.Develop, implement, and enforce internal SOPs for import and export operations.Ensure compliance with Tanzania customs regulations, import duties, taxes, and licensing requirements.Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to customs clearance and documentation.Maintain strong working relationships with customs authorities, port authorities, terminals, and relevant government institutions.Coordinate and negotiate with external stakeholders to resolve clearance and operational issues.Monitor shipment and clearance progress and ensure timely resolution of bottlenecks.Escalate challenges, risks, and delays promptly to China-based management.Demonstrate end-to-end understanding of declaration and clearance processes from operational to management level.Identify operational pain points and implement effective, practical solutions.Job Requirements / QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.Minimum 7 years’ experience in import and/or export operations.Solid hands-on experience at ports, customs offices, container yards, and bonded warehouses.Strong risk identification, assessment, and control skills.Proven team management and leadership experience.Ability to work under pressure with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.Excellent communication, coordination, and external relationship management skills.Strong negotiation skills with government authorities and external partners.
