Job Title: Import ManagerLocation & Job Type: Valley Stream, NY | On-Site | Full-TimeCompany Overview:Altius Talent is partnering with a well-established freight forwarding and customs brokerage organization to identify an experienced Import Manager for their New York operation.Position Overview: The Import Manager will oversee the import operations team, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely handling of ocean and air import shipments. This role suits an experienced logistics professional with strong leadership skills and deep knowledge of import processes and customs compliance.Key Responsibilities:Oversee daily operations of the import team across ocean and/or air shipmentsEnsure accurate and timely processing of customs entries, arrival notices, and cargo releaseMonitor team performance, workload distribution, and service qualityServe as escalation point for complex shipment issues, delays, or client concernsEnsure compliance with CBP regulations, PGA requirements, and internal SOPsManage demurrage/detention exposure and cost control across the import portfolioTrain, mentor, and develop import operations staffBuild and maintain relationships with key clients, carriers, and customs authoritiesMaintain accurate records and reporting in the company's operating system (e.g., CargoWise)Key Skills & Qualifications:5+ years of experience in ocean/air import operations, including 1-2+ years in a supervisory or management capacityStrong knowledge of import documentation, customs clearance, and compliance requirementsExperience with CargoWise or similar freight forwarding software preferredProven leadership and team management skillsExcellent problem-solving and client communication abilitiesComfortable working on-site in a high-volume operations environmentWhat's on Offer:On-site leadership role with an established, growth-oriented forwarding teamComprehensive benefits packageInterested in learning more?
