You will collaborate with global shipping lines, NVOCCs, overseas agents, and domestic transport vendors to secure optimal buying rates. Your primary objective is to deliver accurate, time-sensitive, and highly competitive pricing models to the sales team while optimizing profit margins and mitigating cost leakages.Key Responsibilities1. Rate Procurement & Vendor NegotiationSource ocean freight rates across major international trade lanes from Main Line OperatorsNegotiate local import costs, including port handling (THC), customs clearance (CHA), and inland drayage.Secure specialized pricing based on tank type specifications (e.g., T11, T14, T50 Gas, or lined chemical tanks).Manage specialized accessory costs, including steam heating, electrical heating, and nitrogen blanketing charges.2. Commercial Quoting & RFQ ManagementAnalyze complex RFQs and tender documentation for large global chemical and food-grade cargo manufacturers.Calculate end-to-end import landing costs, integrating ocean freight, ancillary fees, customs duties, and delivery charges.Structure creative leasing tariffs, accounting for short-term spot rates, long-term leasing options, and demurrage structures.Issue timely quotes to sales teams and direct importers.3. Asset & Fleet Cost OptimizationIncorporate asset repositioning costs into import pricing models to minimize empty container mileage.Factor in Maintenance & Repair (M&R) costs, structural cleaning station fees, and statutory 2.5/5-year testing costs.Analyze detention and demurrage liabilities to safeguard the business against unexpected port stay extensions.4. Compliance & Market IntelligenceClassify cargo profiles utilizing the IMDG code to incorporate appropriate Dangerous Goods (DG) surcharges.Monitor global freight trends, Bunker Adjustment Factors (BAF), and container capacity bottlenecks.Audit supplier invoices against historical rate agreements to eliminate billing discrepancies and overcharges.Qualifications & Skills Required Education & ExperienceEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Logistics, International Trade, Finance, or a related discipline.Experience: 3+ years of freight forwarding or shipping line pricing experience, focusing specifically on ISO Tanks or Bulk Liquid Logistics.Technical Knowledge & CompetenciesISO Tank Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of tank classifications, structural components, and IMDG dangerous goods handling rules.Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with international trade structures, HS classification systems, and customs clearance procedures.The Import Pricing Specialist manages end-to-end import freight procurement and commercial quoting for ISO tank containers.
