Infectious Diseases Physician-Scientist, Tenure Track

Michigan Medicine Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a physician-scientist to join the Division of Infectious Diseases. This is an open rank search for positions on the tenure track at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This individual will be pivotal for fulfilling our research mission, serve as a mentor to our fellows and junior faculty and also provide patient care on the inpatient consultation service at Michigan Medicine. Candidates with new or established clinical, translational, or basic research programs are encouraged to apply, and we are particularly interested in candidates who can augment and/or complement existing divisional strengths in antimicrobial resistance, microbiome science, microbial genomics, virology, and fungal biology. The University of Michigan is an outstanding research environment, and the division serves as a hub for ID research across the University’s 19 schools and colleges.The candidate must be certified (or eligible for certification) by the American Board of Internal Medicine in ID and qualify for a faculty appointment with the University of Michigan, Division of Infectious Diseases. The candidate must have a track record commensurate with proposed rank and a research program that is competitive for external funding. The division consists of 50 faculty members, 3 members of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, 2 members of the Association of American Physicians, 2 AAAS Fellows, 1 member of the National Academy of Medicine, and 1 Master of the American College of Physicians. Faculty in the division serve in national leadership positions and hold senior editorial roles at JAMA, JCI Insight, and the Journal of Infectious Diseases. In addition to multiple R01 grants, investigators in the division hold 2 P01 grants, a U19, and several large contracts with the CDC and other federal agencies.
