Apply & track with Apply EdgeResponsibilities: Our client is seeking to hire an IT Field Technician for an onsite role located in Richmond, VA. This position supports the Office of the Executive Secretary within their Field Services Division. The IT Field Technician provides statewide on-site technical support for Virginia courthouses, including installation, replacement, and maintenance of network switches, wireless access points, cabling, and related IT infrastructure and equipment. The role coordinates device deployments with court staff, participates in team projects, documents work performed, and ensures IT equipment is properly installed and functioning. Travel and occasional overnight stays are required.Requirements:Provide LAN/WAN administrative support including installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices.Assist in maintaining and checking the health of systems and backups, including restore testing.Monitor ITSM incidents and work closely with networking teams on device assignments.Update tickets according to documentation templates and quality guidelines.Provide daily, weekly, and monthly activity reporting.Support inventory tracking and input for courthouse IT equipment.Run and manage cabling within data centers, LAN rooms, and wiring closets.Participate in technical discussions and prepare briefing materials as needed.Perform wiring?closet spot checks and maintain organized, safe environments.Document work using written descriptions and photographs.Qualifications:1+ years of experience installing, replacing, or supporting network switches.CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Support Technician, or equivalent certification.3+ years of experience may be substituted in lieu of certification requirement.Basic knowledge of ethernet networking, TCP/IP, VLANs, and subnetting.Experience with enterprise switches such as Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Dell, or HPE.Ability to rack, mount, cable, label, and replace network hardware.Familiarity with console access and basic switch configuration.Ability to follow implementation plans and document completed work.Experience performing switch cutovers with minimal downtime.Understanding fiber and copper cabling including SFP/SFP+ modules.Troubleshooting skills for connectivity issues.Ability to lift and install equipment in network closets and server rooms.Basic skills with Windows PCs and peripheral connections.Ability to travel and stay overnight as needed.Valid driver’s license.Experience following detailed change-management procedures.Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a deployment team.Basic connectivity testing (ping, traceroute, toner use).
