Infrastructure Senior Engineer (Mainframe Infrastructure)

OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineering Senior Engineer to support enterprise mainframe and data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of mission-critical hardware systems that support enterprise operations.The ideal candidate will have deep experience with IBM mainframe environments, Cisco networking, data center operations, hardware configuration, and infrastructure planning. This position requires a hands-on engineer who can lead projects, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, and support large-scale enterprise environments.Key ResponsibilitiesMainframe Infrastructure & Hardware EngineeringConfigure and maintain IBM zSeries mainframe hardware environments.Utilize IBM Hardware Configuration Manager (HCM), Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD), and Connectivity Mapping Tools (CMT).Design and manage hardware configurations across mainframes, storage systems, and enterprise networks.Program and support Cisco FICON switches and mainframe I/O configurations.Design, install, and maintain mainframe fiber and cable infrastructure.Support enterprise storage and connectivity solutions across multiple data centers.Infrastructure Operations & SupportMonitor and troubleshoot hardware failures across mainframe systems and peripheral devices.Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.Coordinate maintenance activities and hardware upgrades with vendors and internal teams.Monitor system utilization, performance, storage, CPU, memory, and network resources.Provide recommendations for capacity planning and future infrastructure growth.Project Leadership & CoordinationLead hardware installation, de-installation, and migration projects.Coordinate hardware microcode upgrades and infrastructure refresh initiatives.Work closely with Network, Storage, Operations, Software, and Facilities teams.Support data center transition and consolidation efforts.Participate in disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing.Lead cross-functional teams and ensure successful project delivery.On-Call SupportParticipate in evening, weekend, and rotating on-call support schedules.Provide rapid response to critical infrastructure incidents and hardware failures.Support mission-critical environments requiring high availability and reliability.Required QualificationsExperience10+ years of IT experience.8+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.Extensive experience with enterprise hardware and data center operations.Experience leading infrastructure projects and coordinating cross-functional teams.Associate Degree required.Technical SkillsIBM Mainframe SystemsIT OperationsCisco NetworkingNetwork EngineeringNetwork Protocols & StandardsNetwork SwitchesLAN TechnologiesHardware Installation & ConfigurationConfiguration ManagementEnterprise Infrastructure SupportComputer HardwarePreferred QualificationsBachelor's DegreeTechnical CertificationsIBM zSeries experienceCisco ACI experienceFICON network configurationData center operations experienceStorage infrastructure experienceDisaster recovery planning and testingVirtualization technologiesLarge enterprise infrastructure support experience
