Installation Quality Control Engineer – Telematics

The Installation Quality Control (QC) Engineer is responsible for ensuring that every device, sensor, accessory and wiring job carried out by our technicians is installed correctly, safely and to a consistent standard, and that the resulting data flow — from vehicle to platform to customer dashboard — is accurate.The role combines three functions:1. Quality Controller – inspects, verifies and signs off installation work.2. Technical Lead / Hands-on Installer – supports technicians in the field, solves problems on site and installs devices personally when required.3. Researcher – studies new installation methods, tools and techniques, especially in fuel monitoring, and converts them into simpler, faster, more reliable procedures for the team.This is a white-collar and blue-collar role. The right person is comfortable both under a vehicle dashboard and in front of a monitoring dashboard.Key Responsibilities1. Installation Quality Control

• Check every installation process — GPS devices, door sensors, temperature sensors, cameras and accessories, fuel sensors, CANBUS connections and related wiring.
• Verify wiring routes, power and ignition points, fuse protection, earthing, connector quality, hidden and tamper-safe placement and vehicle safety.
• Confirm correct device configuration, sensor calibration and data output on the platform before handover.
• Audit completed jobs (on site and remotely), identify defects and ensure rework is done properly.
• Maintain installation checklists, photo/evidence standards and QC sign-off records.2. Technician Support and Problem Solving
• Act as the first point of technical escalation when a technician is stuck on site.
• Identify skill and process gaps in the team and close them through on-the-job guidance and demonstration.
• Personally install devices, sensors and accessories when a job is complex, urgent or requires a reference-quality installation.
• Demonstrate how to install, how to configure, how to monitor and how to read and convert the resulting data.3. Fuel Monitoring and Fuel-Theft Detection
• Own the quality of fuel-sensor installations: capacitive rod sensors (drilling), non-drilling / ultrasonic options, CANBUS fuel data and flow-based solutions.
• Ensure correct tank measurement, sensor cutting, calibration tables and platform mapping.
• Analyse fuel data to identify theft, drain events, refuel anomalies and sensor faults, and advise the operations and support teams accordingly.4. Research and Continuous Improvement
• Study new installation techniques, tools, accessories and vehicle models (including newer CANBUS protocols and electrical systems).
• Find easier, faster and more reliable installation methods and convert them into standard procedures.
• Test new devices and accessories before they are rolled out to the technician team.5. Process, Data Flow and Documentation
• Ensure the complete chain is correct: installation → wiring → device configuration → data input → data output → platform monitoring.
• Prepare and update installation guides, wiring notes, vehicle-specific reference sheets, troubleshooting guides and QC checklists.
• Report installation quality metrics, recurring faults and improvement recommendations to management.Required Qualifications and Experience
• Diploma (Polytechnic) or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• [2+] years of hands-on experience in vehicle electrical work, GPS/telematics installation, auto-electrical service or a comparable field.
• Practical knowledge of vehicle wiring, fuse boxes, ignition and power circuits, relays and connectors across light vehicles, trucks, buses and heavy equipment.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and use multimeters, crimping tools and basic installation tools confidently.
• Willingness to work in the field, including at customer sites, workshops and vehicle yards.Preferred Skills
• Experience with fuel-level sensors (capacitive, ultrasonic), fuel calibration and fuel-theft analysis.
• Knowledge of CANBUS / OBD-II data reading and integration.
• Familiarity with telematics platforms (e.g. Wialon or similar) and device configuration tools.
• Experience with dashcams, MDVR, ADAS/DMS, temperature and door sensors, iButton and driver-ID accessories.
• Experience training or supervising technicians.
• Valid [UAE] driving licence.
• English required; Arabic, Hindi, Urdu or Malayalam an advantage.Personal Qualities We Look For
