To help address broad economic, cultural and political concerns in the city and beyond, the College draws together students from a wide range of ages and backgrounds and seeks to provide the programs and support they need to achieve their goals.Position SummaryBiology Laboratory Instructional Technologist provides operational, technical, and administrative support for Biology teaching laboratories across multiple campus locations. The position is responsible for laboratory preparation, equipment maintenance, inventory management, safety compliance, and coordination of laboratory resources to ensure effective instructional delivery. The Laboratory Instructional Technologist collaborates with faculty and laboratory personnel to support student learning, maintain regulatory compliance, and promote efficient laboratory operations.Essential Responsibilities Coordinate and execute laboratory operations across multiple courses and campus locations, including laboratory setup and breakdown, solution and media preparation, sanitization and sterilization procedures, and hazardous waste management. Develop and maintain laboratory preparation schedules and operational plans to ensure timely and effective support for all instructional laboratories. Collaborate with faculty to identify equipment, supply, and resource needs; support implementation of new laboratory exercises, instructional activities, and course-specific laboratory requirements. Implement and maintain standardized laboratory procedures and workflows to promote operational efficiency, consistency, and quality. Monitor inventory levels, forecast supply needs, maintain inventory records, support purchasing activities, and assist with annual inventory audits. Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records, chemical inventories, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) documentation, and other required operational records. Support implementation of laboratory safety programs, standard operating procedures, and departmental safety requirements; participate in laboratory inspections, emergency preparedness activities, and safety training initiatives. Orient and train student workers, work-study students, and new laboratory personnel on laboratory procedures, equipment use, and safety practices. Maintain laboratory records, safety documentation, and data management systems to support compliance, reporting, and efficient laboratory operations. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance laboratory operations, safety, instructional effectiveness, and student success. Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or laboratory leadership. Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Biology or equivalent disciplineTwo years of laboratory experience in an academic, research, healthcare, or industry setting.Demonstrated experience maintaining laboratory equipment and managing laboratory inventories.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic recordkeeping systems.Familiarity with laboratory tools like microscopes, pipettes, centrifuges, and scales.Attention to Detail: Precision in following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and taking precise measurements.Safety Protocols: Understanding of chemical hazards, safety data sheets (SDS), and proper protective equipment (PPE).Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift laboratory supplies weighing up to 30–45 lbs.Ability to work well with others as part of a team environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, or General Biology laboratories.Experience with chemical hygiene plans, laboratory safety programs, and regulatory compliance.Experience training student workers or laboratory personnel.If you are required to submit references in your application, please provide your current supervisor and two previous supervisor's contact information.Please note - CCP will not contact your references until a contingent offer has been made.
