The RN will participate in collaborative care initiatives with other interdisciplinary service providers.Clinical Practice:Implement critical procedures and crisis intervention strategiesActive member of Code Blue and Rapid Response teamsAssess and continuously analyze data from patient monitoring devicesUse critical thinking to evaluate patient care and monitor the effectiveness of critical care interventionsAdminister and monitor specialty medications, monitoring and trending of vital signsDesign and develop care plans to address patient’s needs in collaboration with the patient, family and multidisciplinary care teamUse comprehensive assessment (using objective, subjective, verbal and nonverbal data), critical inquiry, technology, and research to provide safe, competent nursing services relevant to the area of practice.Evaluate a patient’s health status, health concerns, response to illness and ability to manage health care needs and functions as a patient advocateAssess learning needs and provide instruction to patients and their families in the areas of health and rehabilitative practices, life-style adaptation and self-care measurescollaboration with the patient/family determine the discharge plan, plan of care for home and links to community agencies; assist patients to navigate health system processes and provide the patient with strategies to work within the systemCoordinate and lead nursing and auxiliary staff activities related to the care and treatment of assigned patients LeadershipProactively seek professional development opportunities for themselves and othersObtains and maintains certification in clinical specialtyAttend and /or participate in programs to reinforce nursing education and to remain current with developments and changing trends in the nursing fieldMentor and /or preceptor students, beginning practitioners and practicing nurses by demonstrating care and treatment techniques, explaining routines, and sharing specialized nursing experiencesMaintain a psychologically and physically safe environment and reports all safety hazardsIdentify clinical practice issues affecting patient safety quality outcomes and implement best practice patient care standardsFollow and adhere to all Health PEI policies and guidelines.Statement of Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing with extensive experienceSome nursing experience (1-3 yrs)Obtain and maintain education in clinical specialty (i.e. PALS, ACLS, basic and advanced rhythm interpretation, Coronary and critical care)Active or eligible for registration with the Prince Edward Island College of Nursing & MidwiferyCNA certification in critical care would be considered an assetAdvanced specialty course in critical care will considered an assetExternal candidates may be eligible to receive a $8,000 Nursing Incentive, plus a $5,000 Rural or $8,000 Student Loan Incentive depending on location of employment. To be eligible for recruitment incentives candidates must hold a 1.0 FTE, this can be a full-time role or a combination of part-time positions. Relocation Assistance may be available to part or full-time candidates. Salary Range: $39.52 - $49.37 per hour (RN2)Bi-Weekly Hours: 75.0 hours Bi-weekly/Rotating 12-hour Shifts
