Interim Finance Director (6 months +)Residential DeveloperScotlandHybrid role with a minimum 2 days a week across Scotland’s Central BeltC.£130,000 plus car, bonus and benefitsCognisant is working with a housebuilder that is looking to recruit a hands-on Interim Finance Director to support the strategic direction and continued growth of the business. Operating as a key finance business partner to the Managing Director and senior leadership team, you will provide robust financial insight, challenge commercial decisions, drive cost control and ensure the business operates effectively within agreed budgets. Alongside providing strategic input, you will take an active role in the day-to-day financial management of the business, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls and clear visibility of performance.You will:Support the Managing Director and senior leadership team in shaping and delivering the strategic direction of the business.Work closely with operational teams to scrutinise costs, challenge assumptions and ensure expenditure is managed within agreed budgets.Develop and maintain robust financial models and detailed Excel spreadsheets to support business planning, forecasting, viability assessments and decision-making.Monitor performance against budgets and business plans, challenging variances and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.Provide financial analysis and commercial challenge on new business opportunities and development appraisals.Identify financial risks and opportunities across the development portfolio, providing clear recommendations to support informed decision-making.Build and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders, including Housing Associations, supporting joint venture arrangements, grant-funded schemes and other partnership opportunities.You will be a qualified accountant with proven experience operating within the housebuilding sector. You will combine strong technical and analytical skills, including advanced Excel capability, with the commercial acumen and confidence to challenge senior stakeholders and influence business decisions.
