Apply & track with Apply EdgeThe Specialist Internal Medicine physician is responsible for providing comprehensive, evidence-based medical care to adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions. The role involves diagnosing and managing complex medical illnesses, coordinating multidisciplinary care, promoting preventive health, and ensuring patient safety and quality of care in accordance with established clinical standards and applicable UAE healthcare regulations.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical DutiesAssess, diagnose, and manage adult patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions.Obtain detailed medical histories, perform physical examinations, and formulate appropriate differential diagnoses.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and evidence-based medical guidelines.Manage chronic diseases, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, thyroid disorders, and other metabolic conditions.Diagnose and treat acute medical illnesses, infections, respiratory disorders, gastrointestinal conditions, and cardiovascular risk factors within the scope of internal medicine practice.Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory investigations, diagnostic imaging, electrocardiograms, and other relevant diagnostic tests.Recognize clinical deterioration and initiate appropriate emergency management, stabilization, and referral when required.Prescribe medications appropriately, monitor treatment responses, and minimize medication-related risks.Provide pre-operative medical assessment and optimize patients with underlying medical conditions when indicated.Coordinate specialist consultations and referrals for conditions requiring advanced or specialized management.Provide inpatient care, outpatient consultations, and follow-up services according to the facility's scope of services.Patient Care and CommunicationExplain diagnoses, treatment options, potential risks, and preventive measures to patients and their families.Promote patient education, lifestyle modification, vaccination, and preventive healthcare.Maintain professional, respectful, and culturally sensitive communication with patients from diverse backgrounds.Ensure continuity of care through appropriate follow-up, discharge planning, and communication with other healthcare professionals.Obtain informed consent when required and respect patient confidentiality and autonomy.Documentation and ComplianceMaintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records, including clinical assessments, prescriptions, investigation results, and treatment plans.Comply with applicable Dubai Health Authority (DHA) requirements, UAE healthcare legislation, and facility policies.Follow infection prevention and control protocols, medication safety standards, and patient identification procedures.Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, incident reporting, and patient safety activities.Ensure appropriate documentation, coding, referrals, and reporting in accordance with facility procedures and applicable regulations.Teamwork and Professional DevelopmentCollaborate with nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and other specialists to deliver coordinated patient care.Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, morbidity and mortality reviews, and departmental activities as required.Maintain professional knowledge through continuing medical education and ongoing clinical training.Participate in on-call duties and emergency coverage according to departmental requirements.Qualifications and RequirementsRecognized primary medical degree, such as MBBS or an equivalent qualification.Recognized postgraduate qualification in Internal Medicine that meets the applicable DHA Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR).Relevant clinical experience in internal medicine, consistent with DHA licensing requirements and the employing facility's needs.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification where required by the role or facility.Good knowledge of evidence-based clinical guidelines, diagnostic procedures, and the management of common and complex adult medical conditions.Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, communication, and decision-making skills.Proficiency in electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems.Fluency in English;
