About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced International Business Development Specialist with hands-on experience in U.S. Government and defense contracting.This is a specialized business development role for someone who understands how government and defense opportunities are identified, pursued, positioned, and converted into contract awards.The successful candidate will have practical exposure to customers and procurement environments such as the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), U.S. Armed Forces, NATO, United Nations, Ministries of Defense, or other government and defense organizations.This is not a general B2B sales position. We are specifically looking for candidates who have worked within the government/defense contracting ecosystem and understand formal procurement, tendering and capture processes.What You’ll Be DoingIdentify and develop new business opportunities within U.S. Government, defense and international government markets.Build and maintain relationships with government customers, contracting stakeholders, prime contractors, subcontractors and strategic partners.Monitor relevant government procurement channels and identify suitable RFQs, RFIs, RFPs, solicitations and tenders.Manage opportunities across the business development lifecycle—from market intelligence and opportunity identification through capture, proposal coordination, negotiation and contract award.Support and lead capture strategies for high-value government and defense opportunities.Work closely with internal teams and external partners to develop technically and commercially competitive proposals.Develop business within DoD/DLA and allied defense markets, with particular interest in logistics, energy, petroleum and operational support services.Maintain awareness of applicable U.S. Government contracting requirements, including FAR/DFARS.Develop market intelligence on upcoming programs, competitors, incumbent contractors and potential teaming opportunities.Represent the company in meetings with government customers, defense contractors and international partners.What We’re Specifically Looking ForWe would particularly like to hear from candidates who have:5–10+ years of relevant business development, capture, government contracting or defense-sector experience.Direct experience pursuing opportunities with DoD, DLA/DLA Energy, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy/NAVSUP, NATO, UN or Ministries of Defense.Demonstrable involvement in winning government or defense contracts, not only administering contracts after award.Experience with RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, solicitations, tenders and government bid processes.Working knowledge of FAR and/or DFARS.Experience developing relationships with government contracting stakeholders, acquisition professionals, prime contractors or defense-sector partners.Strong commercial negotiation, stakeholder management and proposal coordination skills.Experience across international markets, particularly the Middle East, U.S., Europe or other defense/government markets.Excellent written and spoken English.Highly DesirableExperience in any of the following would be a significant advantage:DLA Energy • Defense fuel supply • Petroleum products • Aviation/jet fuel • Fuel logistics and handling • Military base support • LOGCAP • AFCAP • Defense logistics • NATO/NSPA procurement • U.S. Government supply contractsWho This Role Is Best Suited ToYou may currently be working as a:Government Business Development Manager, Defense Business Development Specialist, Capture Manager, Federal Business Development Specialist, Government Sales Manager, Contracts & BD Specialist, or International Business Development Manager.Your current title is less important than your actual experience pursuing and winning government/defense business.ApplicationIf your background includes direct experience with U.S. Government or international defense contracting, we would be interested in hearing from you.When applying, please ensure your CV clearly highlights the government/defense customers you have supported, your role in the capture/bid process, and examples of contracts or programs you have helped secure.
