About Safari Investment CapitalSafari Investment Company acquires and operates established, profitable businesses with a multi-generational perspective. We acquire and operate businesses in the lower middle market. We're building the platform from the ground up: a small team, direct access to decision-makers, and analytical work that drives real decisions rather than accumulating in a deck. The RoleWe're hiring an Investment Analyst to support acquisitions and portfolio oversight across the platform. The work is standard buy-side analyst work — modeling, valuation, diligence support, investment committee materials, and portfolio reporting — with the difference that you'll see the full deal cycle on a lean team and work directly with the CFO rather than three layers below him.ResponsibilitiesModeling and valuation· Build and maintain three-statement operating models and returns analyses· Run sensitivity and scenario analysis on operating cases and capital structures· Model transaction structures — debt sizing, earnouts, seller notes, rollover equity — and their effect on returns· Perform valuation analysis: comparable companies, precedent transactions, and DCFDiligence and analysis· Support buy-side diligence across commercial, financial, and operational workstreams· Analyze revenue quality, customer concentration, margin drivers, working capital, capex, and EBITDA adjustments· Review quality of earnings findings and assess their impact on price and structure· Coordinate with outside advisors — accountants, counsel, and consultants — and manage diligence trackers and data room workflowResearch and sourcing support· Conduct industry and market research across sectors, end markets, and competitive dynamics· Maintain target company profiles, the acquisition pipeline database, and outreach tracking· Compile valuation benchmarks and monitor consolidation activity in the sectorInvestment committee and reporting· Draft investment committee memos and presentations with a clear thesis, supporting analysis, and risks· Prepare materials for lender and capital-partner discussions· Produce monthly and quarterly portfolio reporting: variance analysis, KPI dashboards, and commentary· Support budgeting, forecasting, and covenant compliance tracking across acquired businessesWhat Success Looks Like· First 90 days: You know our investment criteria and portfolio economics cold, and your models and materials need editing rather than rebuilding.· First 12 months: You own the analytical workstream on live deals and the recurring reporting cycle end to end, and you surface issues before anyone asks.QualificationsRequired· 2–3 years in an investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, or corporate development analyst role· Advanced Excel and financial modeling — three-statement and LBO models built from scratch, structured so others can follow them· Strong accounting fundamentals and the ability to read financial statements critically· Proficiency in PowerPoint and the ability to write a tight, well-reasoned memo· Research capability: from a blank page on an unfamiliar market to a defensible point of view· Intellectual honesty and precision — on a team this size, your numbers are the numbers· Comfort with incomplete information and founder-owned company financials· Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related fieldPreferred· Lower-middle-market M&A experience, particularly with founder- or family-owned businesses· Quality of earnings or buy-side diligence exposure· Familiarity with testing, inspection, certification, or other regulated and multi-site services businessesWhy This Role· Direct mentorship from the CFO and visibility with Managing Partners from day one· Full deal cycles — screening through integration — instead of one narrow slice· Platform-building exposure rarely available at a larger fund· Clear title path: Analyst to Associate in 18–24 months on performanceHow to ApplySend your resume to david@safariic.com with a brief note on why this sector and stage interest you.
