For more information, visit FederatedHermes.comMain Function of the role: Federated Hermes was one of the early asset manager adopters of Trade Finance as an asset class, offering it to institutional investors since 2009. You will be providing analysis to support our highly selective investment process which has demonstrated resilience and low volatility of returns over time due to a focus on essential goods; greater level of diversification across sectors and geographies; long-standing experience in building relationships with partner banks; and in-depth analysis and due diligence.Key task and responsibilities:Initiate, perform and maintain high-level, in-depth research and analysis of project and trade finance transactions in order to provide quality recommendations for security selection within the strategy. The investment analysis will include financial statement analysis, evaluation of covenant structures, financial modelling, comparable company analysis, and relative value as well as assessment of industry, transaction structure, and political and macroeconomic trends.Use analysis to formulate investment ideas and clearly articulate it to the portfolio managers for inclusion in the portfolio. This includes adding value by generating risk adjusted recommendations to either buy, sell, or hold any given security.Diligently seek research and remain apprised of country, political, company, and industry trends. Sources include, but are not limited to, industry publications, public documents, annual reports, trade journals, interviews with management teams, working with sell-side research analysts and reviewing financial statements and earnings transcripts.Build and maintain financial models and spreadsheets.Minimum knowledge & experience requiredBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering or business-related field.Minimum 3 years of financial statement analysis, modelling, or credit analysis (sovereign and corporate) experience.Demonstrated knowledge of financial statement, covenant structure, risk analysis and relative value techniques.Comprehensive understanding of macro-economic and political factors.Excellent research knowledge, financial analysis experience, and the ability to make recommendations.Ability to operate as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues across the Fixed Income Department.Computer proficiency especially in Microsoft office suite.Non-essential but beneficial knowledge & experience requiredMBA, CFA, or qualified accountant preferred.Accounting experience helpful; experience in trade finance loans preferred.
