The core mandate is heavily focused on public markets, maintaining a highly concentrated, high-conviction book of listed equities.The firm generates all investment ideas and conducts rigorous equity research entirely in-house, bypassing reliance on external sell-side consensus. To support the continued scaling and active management of this concentrated portfolio, the firm is seeking to appoint an Investment Associate to its lean investment team in Rotterdam.This is a rare buy-side opportunity offering pure-play exposure to fundamental investing. Free from the fundraising pressures and short-term benchmark hugging typical of traditional asset management, the successful candidate will have the autonomy to conduct deep, idiosyncratic research, actively shape the portfolio, and present high-conviction investment theses directly to the Managing Director and the principal family.Key ResponsibilitiesFundamental Equity Research: Conduct exhaustive, bottom-up fundamental analysis on prospective and existing listed equities across global markets, focusing on identifying structurally advantaged businesses with asymmetrical risk-reward profiles.Complex Financial Modeling: Construct, iterate, and maintain highly granular, three-statement financial models, operating scenarios, and valuation frameworks (DCF, multiples, sum-of-the-parts) for target public companies.Investment Theses Generation: Synthesize complex financial data, value-chain dynamics, and competitive landscaping into highly structured, institutional-grade investment memorandums.Active Portfolio Monitoring: Continuously monitor the concentrated book, analyzing quarterly earnings releases, regulatory filings (10-Ks, 10-Qs), and broader macroeconomic tailwinds to challenge and reaffirm existing investment convictions.Management Engagement: Participate directly in earnings calls, investor days, and one-on-one engagements with the C-suite and investor relations teams of listed target companies.Sector Deep-Dives: Execute proactive, thematic research into niche sub-sectors and global market trends to feed the top-of-funnel idea generation pipeline.Candidate ProlieExperience: 3 to 5 years of rigorous, highly analytical financial experience. Candidates must originate from top-tier Investment Banking (M&A, coverage, or capital markets) or a highly regarded Asset Management / Equity Research platform (Long-Only or Hedge Fund). Exceptional candidates with a premier Strategy Consulting background will also be considered, provided they possess elite financial modeling skills.Public Markets Passion: An authentic, demonstrable intellectual curiosity for public markets and fundamental investing. The candidate must possess the commercial maturity to tune out short-term market noise and underwrite long-term business quality.Technical Elite: Flawless financial modeling capabilities and an absolute mastery of corporate accounting, cash flow dynamics, and valuation methodologies.Temperament & DNA: A highly autonomous, self-directed researcher who thrives in a lean, quiet, and deeply analytical environment. Must possess a low-ego approach and the intellectual honesty required to defend or pivot investment theses under rigorous scrutiny.Languages: Complete professional fluency in English is strictly mandatory for global research. Proficiency in Dutch is a highly distinct asset.Education: Outstanding academic credentials from a leading tier-one university in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative discipline. Progress toward or completion of the CFA charter is highly welcomed.
