IT Business Intelligence Manager

Job Purpose:The IT Business Intelligence Manager leads the design, development, governance, and continuous optimization of the organization’s enterprise business intelligence and data platforms. The role owns the end-to-end data lifecycle, from source-system extraction and data integration through semantic modeling, reporting, and executive analytics, ensuring accurate, timely, secure, and scalable delivery of business insights. It also provides leadership for BI platform administration, infrastructure reliability, and cross-functional technical collaboration

Key Responsibilities

2.1 BI Platform Strategy & Data ArchitectureOwn the enterprise BI architecture across Power BI, Tableau, and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring alignment with the business intelligence strategy and scalability requirements.Lead adoption of Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse integration and Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers), to modernize the enterprise data platform.Lead the migration of reporting assets from Tableau to Power BI, including conversion of calculated fields and measures into DAX, and manage the platform phase-down timeline.Define data modeling standards for fact and dimension structures, ensuring consistency, performance, and business alignment across semantic models.2.2 ETL, Data Engineering & Performance OptimizationDesign, manage, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS for high-volume batch processing.Manage Power BI incremental refresh strategies and query-folding techniques for large-scale fact tables.Perform SQL Server performance tuning, including query optimization, execution-plan analysis, transaction-log management, and data-compression strategies.Diagnose and resolvesemantic-model refresh failures, capacity constraints, and gateway-related connectivity issues.2.3 Reporting, Analytics & Executive CommunicationDevelop advanced DAX measures and analytical solutions for business use cases, including customer credit aging, margin analysis, and demand baselines.Translate complex SQL and DAX logic into clear, business-friendly documentation for non-technical stakeholders and process owners.Prepare board- and executive-level deliverables, including executive summaries, financial analyses, investment studies, and presentation decks.Partner with business units to translate reporting requirements into scalable, governed BI solutions.2.4 Platform Administration, Security & GovernanceAdminister Power BI workspaces and gateway clusters across Azure and on-premises environments, ensuring availability and reliable connectivity.Manage user access, permissions, licensing, and periodic access reviews across Power BI and Tableau Server.Monitor platform activity using Microsoft Purview Audit Logs and the Power BI Admin Monitoring workspace.Lead Tableau Server administration, version upgrades, and support runbook documentation.Ensure BI infrastructure and data-handling practices align with applicable Saudi National Cybersecurity Authority requirements.2.5 Infrastructure & Cross-Functional Technical SupportCoordinate with network and systems teams to diagnose and resolve hybrid infrastructure issues, supported by appropriate technical evidence.Support Azure virtual machines, site-to-site VPN connectivity, and on-premises SQL Server infrastructure.Prepare clear technical communications, incident summaries, and recommendations for infrastructure, network, and business teams.Core Technical Skills & Tools:BI & Visualization:Power BI (Desktop, Service, DAX, Power Query / M)Tableau Desktop & Server (including version upgrades)Executive dashboards & presentation decks (PowerPoint)Data Engineering & Databases:SQL Server (T-SQL, query tuning, execution plans)SSIS (ETL/ELT design, connection managers, batch jobs)Large-scale fact tables (100M–900M+ rows), incremental refresh, query foldingPlatform, Cloud & Governance:Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Medallion ArchitecturePower BI Gateways (Azure & on-premises clusters)Microsoft Purview Audit Logs, PowerShell / Admin APIs, Azure hybrid connectivity (VPN, VMs)Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field.Extensive hands-on experience in enterprise business intelligence, data warehousing, and analytics platforms.Proven experience managing large-scale BI environments across hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure.Experience with Microsoft Fabric and modern Lakehouse architecture is an advantage.Strong understanding of data governance, security, and regulatory compliance frameworks applicable in Saudi Arabia.
