SummaryThe IT Business Systems Manager is responsible for leading SLPT’s Operations IT environment, including MES, production‑floor systems, databases, dashboards, machine programming support, and integration between manufacturing systems and the ERP (Plex). This role ensures reliable, accurate, and efficient information flow across operations while driving digital transformation initiatives that support manufacturing performance, quality, and throughput. The Manager directly supervises the Sr. IT Systems Analyst and the Controls/PLC Engineering team, ensuring timely support, system stability and continuous improvement across all operations‑related IT systems.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management:Lead, mentor, and develop the Sr. IT Systems Analyst and Controls/PLC EngineersAssign priorities, manage workloads, and ensure timely execution of operational IT tasksEstablish performance expectations, KPIs, and development plans for direct reportsFoster a collaborative, high‑accountability culture between IT, Engineering, and OperationsOperations IT Systems Ownership:Own and manage MES, production‑floor data systems, machine‑level integrations, and operational databasesOversee machine programming support (assembly, testing, data collection, traceability)Ensure reliable communication between PLCs, machines, MES, and ERP (Plex)Maintain and improve production dashboards, KPIs, and real‑time visibility toolsEnsure system uptime, data accuracy, and operational continuity across all manufacturing systemsERP (Plex) Operational Integration:Collaborate with the IT Network & Systems Admin Manager to ensure seamless integration between MES, databases, and PlexSupport operational workflows, BOMs, routings, production reporting, and traceability requirementsLead cross‑functional troubleshooting of production‑related Plex issuesIdentify and implement improvements to operational data flows and system usageContinuous Improvement & Digital Transformation:Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve data accuracyLead projects to modernize production‑floor systems, dashboards, and data collectionPartner with Engineering and Operations to implement new technologies supporting quality, throughput, and efficiencyDevelop and maintain documentation for operational IT systems, processes, and integrationsData Management & Reporting:Oversee operational databases, data integrity, and data governanceEnsure accurate and timely reporting of production KPIs, scrap, downtime, and quality metricsDevelop SQL queries, scripts, and tools to support data extraction and analysisMaintain standardized reporting dashboards for Operations leadershipCross‑Functional Collaboration:Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production to support system needsCoordinate with the IT Network & Systems Admin Manager on infrastructure, cybersecurity, and ERP alignmentSupport new equipment launches, line moves, and process changes requiring IT integrationParticipate in customer audits, internal audits, and compliance activities related to operational systemsBudgeting & Vendor Management:Assist with budgeting for MES, databases, dashboards, and production‑floor IT systemsManage vendors supporting MES, controls, databases, and operational softwareEvaluate new technologies and provide recommendations aligned with business needsOther Responsibilities:Ensure documentation, procedures, and system configurations are kept currentProvide on‑call support for critical production systemsPerform other related duties as assignedQualificationsBS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related fieldStrong understanding of MES, production floor systems, and manufacturing data flowsExperience with PLC/controls environments (Allen Bradley preferred)SQL proficiency (queries, stored procedures, data modeling)Experience with dashboards, reporting tools, and data visualizationUnderstanding of ERP systems (Plex strongly preferred)Familiarity with machine to system communication protocols (OPC, Ethernet/IP, etc.)Leadership experienceCore CompetenciesProblem solving/attention to detailSelf-directed and adaptable ability to work well independently, manage time well, handle and prioritize multiple tasks and complete them with a strong sense of urgencyOperations IT expertiseManufacturing systems integrationData analysis and reportingTeam leadership and development• Continuous improvement mindset• Strong collaboration with Operations and Engineering• Ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency• Clear communication and documentation skillsExperience• 5+ years of experience in Operations IT, MES, manufacturing systems, or related fields• Experience supporting production environments in automotive or similar industries• Experience with PLC/controls engineering or close collaboration with controls teams• Experience developing dashboards, KPIs, and operational reporting• Experience integrating MES, machines, and ERP systems
