General Pipe Cleaners needs an IT Director who can own our entire technology stack, build a reliable IT operation from a two-person team, and work directly with the Director of Operations to modernize a 95-year-old manufacturing business. You’ll manage everything from Google Workspace administration and network infrastructure to ERP support, EDI integrations, and emerging AI initiatives.This role is equal parts strategy and execution. You’ll develop the IT roadmap, but you’ll also be the one making things work day to day across 220,000 sq ft of facilities with roughly 120 employees. Your appetite will determine your outcome here. Our McKees Rocks facility houses the full operation — from raw material processing through finished goods shipping — and our technology needs span the office, the production floor, and the warehouse.ResponsibilitiesStrategy & IT RoadmapDevelop and execute a technology roadmap that aligns IT investments with production goals and business growthReport directly to the Director of Operations and serve as the technology voice in operational decision-makingEvaluate emerging technologies and bring practical, ROI-driven recommendations for modernizationManage the IT budget, including vendor contracts, licensing, hardware lifecycle, and project spendingSystems & InfrastructureOwn the architecture, security, and reliability of all IT systems across the facility, including network, servers, workstations, printers, and connectivity across 220,000 sq ft of office and manufacturing spaceManage and administer Google Workspace organization-wide, including user provisioning, security policies, shared drives, groups, and organizational unitsSupport Microsoft 365 and other business productivity platforms as part of the broader software environmentMaintain and improve on-prem and cloud infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, VLANs, Wi-Fi, and VPNLead hardware lifecycle management from procurement through deployment, maintenance, and replacementEstablish and enforce cybersecurity protocols, backup procedures, and disaster recovery planningERP, EDI & Business SystemsLearn and support Infor SyteLine (CloudSuite Industrial), the ERP system that runs our manufacturing, inventory, order management, and shipping operationsSupport EDI integrations through SPS Commerce and TrueCommerce, connecting us with retail partners including Ferguson, Home Depot, and Lowe’sWork with the Pacejet/Descartes shipping platform and coordinate with freight and logistics partnersIdentify integration opportunities between systems to reduce manual work and close data gapsSoftware, AI & AutomationPartner with the Director of Operations on artificial intelligence and automation initiatives targeting procurement, production planning, and customer service workflowsSupport and extend internal tools built on Google Apps Script, Python, and web-based platformsEvaluate and implement software solutions that solve real operational problems, not technology for technology’s sakeVendor Management & Team LeadershipServe as primary point of contact for all IT vendors, service providers, and technology partnersSupervise the IT Support Specialist and build a functional, reliable two-person IT operation with room to growProvide direct hands-on technical support when needed; in a team this size, no task is beneath youDevelop and maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, and IT policiesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered5+ years of hands-on IT experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead roleStrong experience with Google Workspace administration (user management, security, Drive, Groups, Admin Console)Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and supportSolid understanding of network architecture, including firewalls, VLANs, Wi-Fi, and VPN in a large-facility environmentExperience supporting or administering ERP systems; Infor SyteLine / CloudSuite Industrial experience is a significant plusWorking knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, backup systems, and disaster recoveryFamiliarity with EDI platforms and system integration conceptsComfortable with both Windows and cloud-based environmentsExperience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is strongly preferredPreferred QualificationsDirect experience with Infor SyteLine or CloudSuite IndustrialBackground in system architecture and infrastructure designHands-on experience with AI tools, automation platforms, or scripting (Python, Google Apps Script)Experience with SPS Commerce, TrueCommerce, or similar EDI platformsExposure to shipping platforms like Pacejet or DescartesRelevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Google Workspace Administrator, or ITILOur Technology EnvironmentGoogle Workspace (primary business suite)Microsoft 365Infor SyteLine / CloudSuite Industrial (ERP)SPS Commerce and TrueCommerce (EDI)Pacejet / Descartes (shipping)Google Apps Script, Python (internal tooling and automation)On-prem network infrastructure across 220,000 sq ft of manufacturing facilitiesWhat We’re Looking ForThe qualifications above describe the technical bar.
