Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity ConsultantArtisan Analytix LLCLevel: Mid-level to senior | Individual contributorEngagement: Independent contractor — 1099Compensation: $80–$90 per hour, based on qualifications and relevant experienceTarget start: Approximately November 2, 2026, subject to client selection and onboarding, long term (1+ year project)Screening: No security clearance required; standard background check requiredThe opportunityArtisan Analytix is seeking a Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Consultant to support a large public-sector IT services program. This mid-level to senior individual-contributor role will help strengthen how disaster recovery is planned, tested, coordinated, and reported across business stakeholders and technology service providers. We are looking for a practitioner who combines effective DR fundamentals with practical modernization: clearer recovery workflows, less manual status collection, useful automation, and dashboards that show what has recovered, what remains, and where attention is needed. Working knowledge of cloud recovery is important; deep cloud architecture expertise is not required. What you will doDR planning and business alignment. Assess current recovery capabilities and maintain DR plans, runbooks, dependency maps, contacts, and readiness records. Work with business and technical owners to validate business impact inputs, service priorities, recovery time objectives (RTOs), recovery point objectives (RPOs), and recovery acceptance criteria.Exercises and recovery coordination. Plan and facilitate tabletop exercises, technical recovery tests, and failover/failback activities with authorized delivery teams. Coordinate roles, schedules, escalation paths, and dependencies; track actual outcomes against recovery objectives and support recovery events when engaged.Dashboards and progress visibility. Design, build, or enhance dashboards that track recovery milestones, completed and remaining steps, blockers, ownership, elapsed time, and application validation. Define evidence-based progress measures so a status such as “50% complete” reflects agreed recovery milestones—not an unsupported estimate of time remaining or service restoration.Automation and process improvement. Reduce manual status collection through approved reporting tools, workflows, data feeds, or integrations. Deliver practical improvements directly where feasible and partner with technical specialists on more complex integrations. Document data sources, refresh timing, and ongoing support needs.Cloud and hybrid recovery. Work with infrastructure, application, security, and cloud teams to assess dependencies and recovery approaches across on-premises and cloud services. Apply working knowledge of backup and restore, replication, regional recovery, and shared responsibilities; identify gaps and recommend practical, cost-conscious improvements.Stakeholder coordination and continuous improvement. Consolidate supplier and service-owner updates, communicate risks and decisions needed, document lessons learned, and track corrective actions to closure. Keep recovery records current as services change and support adherence to applicable client policies and governance. What you bringTypically five or more years of relevant IT experience, including substantial hands-on responsibility for disaster recovery, IT service continuity, or technology resilience. Comparable experience demonstrating the required capability will be considered.Experience developing or improving DR plans and runbooks and coordinating substantive recovery exercises or failover/failback tests.Strong understanding of recovery objectives, business impact analysis, dependencies, backup and restore, replication, recovery sequencing, and technical and business validation.Practical cloud knowledge sufficient to work effectively with cloud teams and understand how recovery differs across on-premises and cloud services. Expertise in every cloud platform is not expected.Demonstrated ability to create or improve dashboards, structured reporting, or workflow automation—not only maintain plans and meeting notes.Clear written communication, strong facilitation and follow-through, and the ability to coordinate multiple technical teams and suppliers without direct supervisory authority.Preferred experienceExperience in government, regulated organizations, or multi-provider managed IT environments.Exposure to tools such as Power BI, Tableau, ServiceNow, Power Automate, cloud-native recovery tools, or comparable platforms. SQL, scripting, or API-integration experience is helpful, not mandatory.Relevant disaster recovery, business continuity, IT service management, or cloud certifications. A related degree is helpful; equivalent practical experience is welcome. What success looks likeSuccess means current and usable recovery plans; well-coordinated exercises with documented results; trustworthy visibility into recovery progress; fewer manual reporting steps; and a prioritized improvement backlog with accountable owners. This is a delivery-focused role with no direct reports, working within established program decision-making and change-control processes.Engagement detailsThis is an independent contractor 1099 engagement with Artisan Analytix, not a W-2 employee position. Work location, expected hours, engagement duration, and any onsite, travel, or after-hours participation will be confirmed during screening. Candidates must satisfy applicable client onboarding and system-access requirements.
