IT Manager

Birmingham Hide & Tallow Co., Inc., a third-generation family-owned leader in rendering, used cooking oil recovery, and grease trap services across the Southeast, is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented IT Manager.Role OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and versatile IT Manager to lead all technology operations for our growing privately-owned company. As the primary technology professional, you will be responsible for the full scope of IT — combining strategic planning with hands-on technical execution. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional who thrives in a dynamic, small-company environment where your contributions will have immediate and visible impact.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain all company IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud environments (Microsoft 365, Dell Server, SQL), workstations, and telecommunications systems.Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting for employees across all departments.Develop and implement IT strategy, policies, and procedures aligned with business goals.Lead cybersecurity initiatives, including threat protection, data backups, disaster recovery planning, and employee security training.Evaluate, recommend, and oversee the implementation of new technologies, software, and hardware solutions.Manage IT vendors, service providers, and external support contracts.Plan and control the annual IT budget and technology-related expenditures.Collaborate with leadership and department heads to identify technology needs and deliver solutions that improve efficiency and support growth.Document systems, processes, and maintain accurate IT asset inventories.Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and security of company data.Handle special projects as needed, including system upgrades, migrations, and process improvements.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.1–5+ years of progressive IT experience with broad technical knowledge.Strong hands-on expertise in networking, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, systems administration, and end-user support.Experience managing IT in a small to mid-sized company environment is highly preferred.Proven ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple responsibilities.Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA Network+/Security+, Azure, Cisco, or CISSP) are a strong plus.Why Join BHT ReSources?We are a stable, long-established family business with a strong reputation for integrity and customer service.
