Role DescriptionThe IT Manager / IT Director / Technology Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing an organization’s technology strategy, IT operations, infrastructure, systems, applications, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives. The role focuses on ensuring that technology services are reliable, secure, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives.Key responsibilities include developing and implementing technology strategies, establishing IT priorities, managing technology resources, and ensuring that systems and services effectively support organizational requirements. The role requires evaluating existing technology capabilities, identifying opportunities for improvement, and recommending solutions that enhance operational efficiency, productivity, security, and business performance.The position oversees IT infrastructure, networks, servers, cloud environments, business applications, databases, end-user technologies, and technology support services. Responsibilities include monitoring system availability and performance, coordinating maintenance activities, addressing technical issues, managing technology projects, and ensuring business-critical systems remain operational.The IT Manager / IT Director / Technology Manager is also responsible for supporting cybersecurity and technology risk management. This may include overseeing access controls, security policies, vulnerability management, data protection, backup and recovery procedures, incident response, system monitoring, and compliance requirements.The role involves managing IT projects and technology initiatives from planning through implementation. This includes defining objectives, coordinating internal teams and vendors, managing resources and budgets, monitoring progress, addressing risks, and ensuring successful delivery of technology solutions.Leadership and team management are essential components of the position. The manager or director provides direction to IT professionals, establishes priorities, supports professional development, promotes effective collaboration, and ensures that technology operations follow appropriate standards and procedures.The role also works closely with senior management, department leaders, business stakeholders, vendors, consultants, and external technology partners. The successful candidate should be able to translate technical concepts into clear business recommendations and communicate technology risks, opportunities, investments, and priorities effectively.The position may also oversee technology budgeting, vendor management, software licensing, asset management, IT policies, service-level performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. A strong focus on innovation and emerging technologies is required to identify opportunities for automation, digital transformation, and improved business capabilities.QualificationsStrong understanding of IT management, technology strategy, infrastructure, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.Ability to develop and execute technology strategies aligned with organizational goals and business priorities.Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, servers, cloud computing, databases, enterprise applications, and end-user technologies.Understanding of cybersecurity principles, access management, data protection, vulnerability management, backup and disaster recovery.Strong knowledge of IT service management, operational processes, incident management, change management, and service-level management.Ability to lead technology projects involving multiple teams, stakeholders, systems, and external vendors.Strong leadership and people-management skills with the ability to build, guide, and motivate technical teams.Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Strong understanding of IT governance, risk management, technology compliance, policies, standards, and operational controls.Ability to manage technology budgets, resources, vendors, contracts, licenses, and infrastructure investments.Familiarity with ERP, CRM, cloud platforms, business applications, monitoring tools, cybersecurity solutions, and IT management platforms.Strong vendor and stakeholder management skills with the ability to negotiate requirements, service expectations, and technology solutions.Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical matters to senior management and non-technical stakeholders.Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and determine their potential business value, risks, and implementation requirements.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple technology priorities and strategic initiatives.Commitment to security, reliability, operational efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.Relevant certifications in IT management, cybersecurity, cloud computing, project management, or IT service management may be advantageous.
