The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, define application architecture, guide development teams, and drive best practices across Java, Cloud, microservices, and DevOps technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign enterprise application architecture using Java, Spring Boot, and MicroservicesTranslate business requirements into scalable technical solutionsLead architecture, design reviews, and technical decision-makingDrive architecture decisions and be accountable for their implications regarding solution costs, delivery schedules, application complexity, technical debt, and overall solution performanceOwn, manage, and maintain the architecture roadmap and runways of the programme, product, environments, and/or platformsIdentify, prioritize, and drive technical and architectural enhancementsDrive architectural governance, technical debt reduction, and platform modernisationConduct code reviews for high-quality, secure, and maintainable codeDrive cloud-native development, CI/CD, and DevOps best practicesEnsure application performance, scalability, security, and reliabilityWork closely with peer architects and collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional teamsPrepare architecture documents, technical designs, and implementation plansGuide and mentor development teams and promote engineering best practices, tools and techniques throughout the development processWork together, oversee, and govern the development to ensure the development team's design and implementation align with the proposed architecture definition. Work closely with the quality engineering team to ensure that the final solution meets the agreed non-functional requirementsDevelop logical infrastructure solutions in alignment with technology standards. Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure that the physical infrastructure designed meets project requirementsMonitor industry trends, identify and evaluate relevant technologies and toolsRequired Skills and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field12+ years of Java development experience of which 5+ years in an Architect rolePractical knowledge of agile software development methodologies and enterprise architecture best practicesExperience in a large matrix organisation with global teamsStrong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, React, Microservices and OracleExpertise in Next.js, Node.js, MariaDB, PostgreSQLExperience with REST APIs, Kafka/RabbitMQ, Solace and distributed systemsKnowledge of CI/CD tools, DevOps, and TDD, AI/ML toolsExperience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamicsStrong expertise in one or more of the following technology domains, including Data Warehousing, Observability, Automation, Network & Infrastructure, Mobile and Frontend Technologies, Container Platforms, Enterprise Databases, Integration Solutions, Messaging Systems, CybersecurityDemonstrated expertise in modern architectural principles and design patterns, with hands-on experience in Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Microservices, Event-Driven and Cloud-Native Architectures, CQRS, Serverless Computing, and API-First solution designWorking knowledge of cloud well architected frameworks and best practices for cloud deploymentsUnderstanding of cross cutting architecture capabilities such as Rules Management, Workflow Management, Security, and GovernanceAbility to connect the enterprise-wide architectural vision with non-functional requirements (NFRs) and practices such as Observability, Automation, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and related architecture concernsStrong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skillsJava and Cloud certifications
