Java Software Engineer

We’re working with a leading organisation in the energy sector that is investing heavily in digital trading technology and building a new team focused on modern, high-performance trading platforms. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong Java and distributed systems experience to join this growing team.You’ll be working on the design and development of high-throughput, event-driven trading systems supporting automated and quantitative trading across energy markets.ResponsibilitiesBuilding core trading platform components and servicesDeveloping distributed, event-driven and high-performance systemsWorking with real-time market data and messagingDeveloping exchange/venue connectivity and trading infrastructureDesigning solutions around replay, recovery and sequencingBuilding and deploying cloud-native services using AWSImproving observability, reliability and production performanceWorking closely with traders, quantitative developers and technical architectsContributing to the evolution of automated and digital trading platformsKey SkillsStrong Java development skillsExcellent understanding of concurrency and multithreadingExperience building distributed or high-throughput systemsStrong Linux experienceBackground working with messaging, networking or data-intensive applicationsExperience with AWS/cloud technologiesGood understanding of production engineering, monitoring and observabilityStrong problem-solving and system-design skillsExperience within trading, financial markets, energy, market infrastructure or another latency-sensitive environment would be highly advantageous.
