Java Software Engineer with Kafka

Project Description:You will join the Client Connectivity pod within Cross-Asset Structured Products crew, working withengineers across a portfolio of trading-connectivity services and platforms. POD is spread across APAC,AMER and EMEA locations. You will collaborate closely with product, support and platform teams to deliver secure, resilient solutions for distributors, venues and internal users.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design, build and operate event-driven microservices that power structured-products negotiations and trading. The solution enables the routing, transformation, enrichment and exchange of communications between internal and external partners.We are looking for someone who can:design, build and test stateless Java services and shared libraries that consume, transform and produce Kafka messagesensure reliable and secure operation through robust stream error handling, schema compatibility, deterministic behavior and production-ready observabilitydeliver services across multiple environments, contributing to GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes deployments and operational supportwrite high-quality unit and integration tests, review code and promote consistent engineering standards across a broad application estateintegrate external trading platforms and venues with internal instrument, reference-data and product services, including FIX connectivityMandatory Skills Description:6 years deep hands-on experience with modern Java, Spring Boot, dependency injection, configuration, Spring WebFlux, Project Reactor and Spring Securitystrong knowledge of Apache Kafka, Kafka Streams, Reactor Kafka, Spring Kafka, Confluent Schema Registry, Apache Avro and schema evolutiona strong testing mindset using JUnit 5, Mockito, AssertJ, reactor-test, JSON comparison and Kafka test tooling, including deterministic and parameterized testsexperience with Maven, GitLab CI/CD and Kubernetes-based delivery; familiarity with Node and npm is beneficialexperience designing stateless microservicesfamiliarity with Micrometer, Prometheus, Actuator, OpenTelemetry, Log4j2, Splunk integration and HashiCorp Vault (good to have)an understanding of structured products, RFQ and quote workflows, order routing, trade lifecycle events, pricing subscriptions and reporting is beneficialexperience with AI solutions, MCP servers and AI agents is a plusStrong technical communication skills, a collaborative approach to code reviews, and the ability to thrive within regulated environmentNice-to-Have Skills Description:practical experience with Spring Data JPA, JDBC, Oracle and SQLite
