Junior Accountant

The Junior Accountant will support the Accounting Team by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, assisting with month-end activities, tax-filling and ad-hoc reporting ensuring compliance with accounting principles and the company policies. This role works closely with Finance, Operations and Sales and will assist with key business initiatives and operational priorities. The position reports to Accounting Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries, ad hoc financial analysis, business case support, and other reporting models as requiredAssist with month-end and year-end closing activities, financial reports and account analysesMaintain accurate financial records and support documentationSupport internal and external audits by providing required documentationRespond to internal and external inquiries related to accounting mattersCoordinates activities related to custom’s and logistics paperwork, customer orders ensuring excellent client serviceAssists with data analytics utilizing various tools to analyze trends, identify risks/opportunities, and support operational improvementsProcess and reconcile freight, shipping, customs, and warehouse-related invoices.Contributes to finance process improvements, reporting enhancements, and analytical processEnsures compliance with financial processes, follows Canadian GAAP/IFRS and other regulatory requirementsAssist maintain records related to inventory movements, freight charges, and vendor contractsProduce accurate financial analysis, reporting, and variance explanations and other key data to support with informed decisionRequired Qualificationso Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restrictionso Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, statistics, or a related field training requiredo 2-5 years related experienceo Expertise working with financial and ERP systems such as NetSuite (Oracle), Microsoft Office Products (e.g. Excel, Access), SQL, Power BI, Tableau will be considered a strong asseto Solid understanding and knowledge of full cycle accounting processes, inventory accounting principles and cost allocationso Working experience within a manufacturing environment or grocery industry is not a must but will be considered an asseto Knowledge of freight, transportation, and supply chain processes – nice to have skillseto Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.Total Rewards PackagePerformance-based annual bonusAnnual Salary ReviewExtended Health Care – Health, Dental and Vision Group Benefits CoverageEmployee and Family Assistance ProgramLife and AD&D insuranceWellness ProgramTuition Reimbursement ProgramCorporate Fitness Membership DiscountsPaid Time Off OpportunitiesCompany EventsEmployee Discounts and Perks ProgramsFlexible Work ArrangementsSummer Hours or Early Friday ClosuresAbout the CompanyAt Cartnet, we empower retailers and grocers with real-time clarity and total control over their fleet.
