The business has subsequently grown both organically and through a series of acquisitions and now has unrivalled reach into its market through retail stores nationwide, multiple ecommerce channels and wholesale distribution to some of the UK’s top retail brands.About the Role:Reporting to the Head of Buying, the Junior Buyer is responsible for domestically sourcing products for all Gift Universe channels.The Junior Buyer is also responsible for directly managing the Buying Administrator and the dropship range.Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:ProductSource domestic product for all the business channels for own product categories in line with buying/SEO strategyAnalyse weekly trading reports to identify opportunities at both product & category level and own the economic model of own product categories.Negotiate Exclusivity and first to market opportunities on key productsMaintain & develop good relationships with supplier base, be constantly looking for improvement in payment terms, marketing contributions & retro rebatesCheck web listings for new lines are strong/showcase the products features wellTeamDeputise for Head of Buying where needed (Monday trade, Digital, Marketing)Support and develop the Buying Adminstrator, ensuring they are achieving their budgeted sales and margins for the dropship categoryIn the absence of the Buying Administrator, ensure cover is in place with the Merchandising Administrator and that key buying tasks can be covered.Work closely with merchandising team to monitor stock levels, slow sellers, and promotional activity.MarketAttend UK and international trade shows/comic cons/previewsRegularly review competitor’s product ranges (in stores and online) to identify any missing opportunities and ensure we are price competitive in the market.Regularly review competitor’s social media platforms to identify any missing opportunities and ensure we are price competitive in the market.Monthly store visits and feedback to the teamAbout You:Can commute to the office in DorkingA degree.High degree of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to prioritise and manage your own workloadAble to work well with multiple teamsStrong interest in the retail spaceExcellent communication skillsFast learner with a capacity to work independentlyExcellent written and skills
