Junior Cost Control EngineerJob Summary:The Junior Cost Control Engineer is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling project costs throughout the construction lifecycle. The role ensures projects are delivered within the approved budget by tracking commitments, expenditures, productivity, forecasts, and cost variances while providing accurate and timely cost reports to management.The successful candidate will work closely with the Planning, Procurement, Commercial, Finance, and Project Teams to maintain accurate cost records, support financial planning, and enhance overall project profitability.Key Responsibilities:Develop, implement, and maintain project cost control procedures and cost reporting systems.Monitor actual project expenditures against approved budgets and cost baselines.Analyze cost variances and identify potential budget overruns, providing recommendations for corrective actions.Prepare cost performance reports, including earned value analysis (EVA), cost forecasts, and cash flow reports.Monitor labor productivity, equipment utilization, and material consumption to identify cost-saving opportunities.Review subcontractor and supplier invoices to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and approved budgets.Coordinate with the Procurement Team to monitor procurement budgets and committed costs.Review variation orders and assess their financial impact on project budgets and forecasts.Prepare cost dashboards, management reports, and presentations for senior management.Maintain accurate cost records, supporting documentation, and project financial data.Coordinate with the Finance Department regarding project accruals, monthly cost allocation, and financial reconciliation.Assist in identifying cost optimization opportunities to improve project profitability.Ensure compliance with company cost control procedures, financial policies, and reporting standards.Required Systems & Software:The candidate should have hands-on experience with one or more of the following:ERP / Cost Control SystemsOracleSAPOther ERP or project cost control systemsReporting & Analysis:Microsoft Excel (Advanced)Power BI (Preferred)Microsoft PowerPointQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.Experience2 to 5 years of total experience in cost control, including UAE experience with a main construction contractor.Proven experience working on building, hospitality, commercial, residential, or infrastructure construction projects.Strong understanding of construction contracts, budgeting, cost control, forecasting, procurement, and project financial management.Knowledge of earned value management (EVM), cash flow forecasting, and project cost reporting is an advantage.Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and reporting skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment.
