Junior General Technician / Followspot OperatorDepartment: Technical / ProductionReports To: Technical Manager / Assistant Technical Manager / Show ManagerLocation: Crazy Horse Paris: The Dubai Edition, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, UAEEmployment Type: Full-TimeWorking Days: Five days per week, based on the production scheduleSalary: AED 5,000 per month, all-inclusive, including accommodation/housing and transportationPosition OverviewCrazy Horse Paris: The Dubai Edition is seeking a focused and adaptable Junior General Technician / Followspot Operator to support the technical operation of a premium resident theatrical production in Dubai.The position combines the consistent operation of a followspot during rehearsals and performances with general technical support across lighting, audio, video, media systems, cabling, equipment maintenance, stage operations, and backstage activities.The successful candidate must be able to learn and execute followspot cues with precision while maintaining the concentration, timing, and consistency required throughout every performance. Outside show calls, the role will assist the wider technical team with daily setup, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.Key ResponsibilitiesFollowspot OperationOperate the assigned followspot during rehearsals, performances, special events, and corporate shows.Learn and execute all followspot cues accurately according to the approved cue sheet and the direction of the lighting and show-management teams.Follow performers smoothly while maintaining the correct framing, movement, intensity, color, and timing.Attend cueing sessions, technical rehearsals, and dress rehearsals to develop complete familiarity with the production.Complete pre-show checks of the followspot, communication system, accessories, and operating position.Report equipment faults or operational concerns immediately.Maintain concentration and readiness throughout the entire performance.Ensure the followspot position remains clean, organized, secure, and performance-ready.Follow all working-at-height and equipment-safety procedures associated with the operating position.General Technical OperationsAssist with the setup, testing, operation, shutdown, and reset of technical equipment.Complete assigned pre-show and post-show technical checks.Help prepare the stage, backstage areas, control positions, and technical systems.Support technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, performances, and venue events.Follow cue sheets, show plots, technical instructions, and operating procedures accurately.Report technical faults, damaged equipment, missing items, and safety concerns immediately.Assist senior technicians with fast and discreet troubleshooting during performances.Lighting SupportAssist with lighting checks, fixture preparation, focusing, cleaning, and basic maintenance.Support conventional, LED, moving-light, and followspot equipment.Assist with cable runs, addressing, patching, fixture replacement, and equipment organization.Help maintain approved lighting looks and show-cue consistency.Develop familiarity with grandMA3 or similar professional lighting-control systems.Audio, Video and Media SupportAssist with microphones, speakers, amplifiers, playback devices, stage boxes, and audio cabling.Support basic audio line checks, equipment preparation, patching, and troubleshooting.Assist with projectors, displays, video distribution, signal routing, playback systems, and media servers.Help prepare and maintain cabling, converters, adapters, and related equipment.Develop familiarity with Allen & Heath, Dataton WATCHOUT, and other professional entertainment systems.Assist with basic AV-network checks under the supervision of senior technicians.Stage and Backstage SupportAssist with stage changes, scenic elements, technical equipment, and backstage preparations.Support the safe movement and positioning of equipment.Help maintain clear backstage routes and safe working areas.Coordinate with the props, wardrobe, stage, artistic, and operations teams.Remain attentive and ready to respond throughout rehearsals and performances.Equipment Care and SafetyClean, inspect, organize, and correctly store technical equipment after use.Assist with cable maintenance, equipment labeling, basic repairs, and preventative maintenance.Help maintain inventories of cables, adapters, tools, spare parts, and consumables.Keep control rooms, racks, workshops, storage areas, and technical spaces organized.Follow all health and safety procedures, risk assessments, and technical protocols.Do not operate unfamiliar equipment without authorization or training.Participate in technical training, emergency drills, safety briefings, and production meetings.Candidate RequirementsPrevious experience in theatre, live entertainment, concerts, events, hospitality AV, or a similar technical environment is preferred.Previous followspot or stage-lighting experience is an advantage, but training may be provided to the right candidate.Strong concentration, visual awareness, coordination, timing, and attention to detail.Ability to follow performers smoothly and execute repeatable cues accurately.Basic knowledge of lighting, audio, video, stage equipment, or AV cabling.Exposure to Dataton WATCHOUT, grandMA3, Allen & Heath, or similar systems is an advantage.Ability to follow instructions, cue sheets, and technical procedures precisely.Comfortable working at height in an elevated followspot position.Ability to remain calm and focused throughout live performances.Physically able to stand for extended periods and safely lift or move technical equipment.Reliable, punctual, adaptable, and willing to learn.Basic spoken English is required; additional languages are an advantage.Working ConditionsThis position operates on a five-day working week.Evening, weekend, and public-holiday work may be required based on the production schedule.Working hours will follow the production’s rehearsal, performance, maintenance, and event schedules.The role may involve working at height, handling equipment, lifting, and standing for extended periods.Flexibility will be required during installations, rehearsals, opening periods, and special events.
