Learn more at newhaven.edu.The Dental Hygiene Program, based in the Department of Allied Health in the School of Health Sciences at the University of New Haven is seeking to hire a full-time Non-Tenure Track Faculty. This faculty member will teach in the Associate in Science and Bachelor of Science Dental Hygiene Programs and supervise junior-level clinical experiences according to the accreditation standards established by ADA CODA. The successful candidate will be committed to academic and scholarly excellence, continuous improvement through professional development, and self-assessment. This position is to begin Spring 2027.The University of New Haven’s School of Health Sciences (SHS) is one of the most progressive health sciences schools in the United States for its approach to integrating all health professionals – from technicians to physicians – in an interdisciplinary, interprofessional educational experience focused on public health, ethics, and health technology.Students develop the competencies necessary to be a successful healthcare professional in the 21st century through hands-on experiences and a curriculum focused on healthcare innovation, systems thinking, and using evidence-based approaches to solve today’s biggest challenges in healthcare.The School of Health Sciences includes the Departments of Allied Health, Population Health and Leadership, and Rehabilitation Sciences and Wellness.You WillTeach in the Associate in Science and Bachelor of Science dental hygiene programs both didactic and clinical coursesCommunicate with and manage outside clinical sites, maintain and update site contacts, requirements and paperwork, prepare clinic rotation schedules, address student-related or instructor-related site issuesConduct instructor calibration meetings, orientation and training.Coordinate University of New Haven Dental Hygiene Center clinic rotations, ensure local, state and federal compliance, and maintain responsive communication with students and instructors.Serve on departmental, school, and university level committeesAdvise and support studentsMaintain currency in the Dental Hygiene discipline and teaching methodologiesMaintain compliance with the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation and submits reports and data as neededOther duties as directedYou NeedEarned Master’s degree in Dental Hygiene or an appropriate terminal degree in their disciplineMinimum 3 years of clinical teaching and 1 year of didactic teaching experience in a dental hygiene programExperience with clinical coordination preferredCurrent Connecticut dental hygiene license, eligibility for dental hygiene licensure in Connecticut, and certification in local anesthesiaKnowledge of dental hygiene accreditation, technology common in dental hygiene practice and education, and computer applications commonly used in dental hygieneEmployment is contingent upon successfully passing a background investigation and proof of Connecticut Dental Hygiene Licensure.Application Instructions: All information on candidates will be kept confidential.
