Apply & track with Apply EdgeRole SummaryAt Nearby Computing, we are looking to bring on board a Junior Network Operations Technician with a hands-on approach, strong motivation, and a genuine willingness to learn, to operate our NearbyOne platform on-site at a high-profile Defence-sector client.The RoleAs a Junior Network Operations Technician, you will be based on-site at the client's data centre in Madrid, operating our NearbyOne platform to monitor network infrastructure — including routers, switches, and firewalls from vendors such as Cisco, HPE/Aruba, Palo Alto, and CheckPoint — while executing configuration and diagnostic workflows. You will also serve as the on-site technical contact between the client and the team you will be joining at Nearby Computing, with full training provided along the way.Your hands-on experience with the platform in a real production environment will be key to driving continuous product improvement. If you have a solid foundation in networking fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly in a demanding environment, this is a strong opportunity to grow within a fast-scaling team, contributing to a strategic engagement with a Defence-sector client and building long-term career growth.What You'll DoOperate NearbyOne platform: review network health dashboards, check device status, monitor interface performance metrics and identify anomalies.Work through guided workflows to configure, diagnose, and resolve issues in collaboration with the engineering team.Keep clear and organized records of every incident you handle.Act as the trusted on-site technical contact for the client, staying connected with the remote team of Nearby Computing.Build expertise by working hands-on in our production environment.Share your insights with the product team, directly shaping how NearbyOne evolves.Requirements1–2 years of experience in network operations / IT support (recent graduates with a strong technical foundation are also welcome to apply)Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, switching, routing, VLANs, subnetting, basic firewall conceptsWorking knowledge of SNMP and network monitoringBasic CLI skills (Cisco IOS or another vendor) via SSH/consoleFluent/native Spanish; technical reading in English (Spoken level a plus)Availability to work 100% on-site in MadridNice to HaveDegree or vocational training (CFGS) in Telecommunications, Networking, or Computer Science.Experience with Zabbix, Nagios, PRTG, or GrafanaExposure to multi-vendor environments (Juniper, Fortinet, etc.)CCNA, JNCIA, or CompTIA Network+ certificationPrior experience in government or defence environmentsWhy Nearby Computing?We are a deep-tech company behind NearbyOne, our own orchestration and observability platform for network and edge infrastructure.
