Junior Python DeveloperRemote | PermanentNigel Frank International is working with a growing trading technology business to recruit a Junior Python Developer.This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career developer to work on the software that powers live trading strategies. You will join a small technical team, work closely with experienced engineers, traders and researchers, and gradually take ownership of components as your confidence and experience grow.You do not need previous trading-industry experience. What matters most is strong Python capability, a genuine interest in building reliable systems and the ability to work independently while communicating clearly with others.What you will be doingDevelop strategy components and shared Python libraries from designs and specifications created by traders and researchers.Extend integrations with trading venues and brokers, including new endpoints, order types and improved error handling across REST and WebSocket APIs.Investigate issues in live systems, including dropped connections, unexpected API responses and data-quality problems.Build and improve dashboards, logging and visibility into how trading strategies and systems are performing.Write tests, review code and improve the areas of the codebase you work on.Work alongside senior engineers initially, before taking greater ownership of systems and components.What we are looking for1–3 years’ commercial experience as a Software Engineer, Python Developer, Backend Developer or similar.Strong Python skills beyond simple scripting, with experience contributing to a larger codebase or production application.Working SQL and general database knowledge.Experience calling HTTP APIs and working with streaming data through WebSockets.Comfortable using Git and collaborating with other developers.Able to debug unfamiliar or complex codebases methodically.Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain problems and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Self-motivated, curious and comfortable working independently.Desirable skillsAsynchronous Python.Dashboards, visualisation, monitoring or centralised logging.Docker, CI pipelines or cloud platforms — particularly Azure.Open-source contributions or personal technical projects.An interest in financial markets, trading or quantitative finance.If you are a strong Python developer looking for an opportunity to build real-world systems in a technically interesting, fast-moving environment, apply today or contact Nigel Frank International for a confidential discussion.
