About NanologicalNanological is a Madrid-based deep-tech company developing a new generation of rapid diagnostic technologies for bloodstream infections and sepsis. Our platform combines microfluidics, optomechanical sensing and advanced data analysis to enable faster clinical decision-making. Our multidisciplinary R&D team works across physics, engineering, biology and data science to further develop, optimize and expand the capabilities of our technology.About the roleWe are looking for a Junior R&D Experimental Engineer/Scientist to work directly on the experimental development, characterization and optimization of our diagnostic platform. This is a highly hands-on position for someone who is proactive, curious and eager to learn. You do not need to be an expert in all the technologies involved. What matters most is your ability to understand how complex experimental systems work, learn quickly and actively contribute to solving technical problems. As we continue to advance and expand our platform, our R&D team designs experiments to characterize system performance across different biological entities and experimental conditions, explore new applications, investigate technical questions, and generate the evidence needed to guide engineering decisions. What you will doYou will support the R&D team in the experimental development and continuous improvement of our technology. Your work will include:Preparing, assembling and operating experimental setups. Running experiments involving optical, mechanical and fluidic systems. Supporting calibration, verification and optimization of prototypes. Following experimental protocols and helping improve them as the technology evolves. Recording experimental conditions and results in a structured and reproducible way. Analyzing experimental data and identifying trends, inconsistencies or unexpected behaviors. Troubleshooting experiments and investigating unexpected system behavior. Working closely with scientists and engineers to improve the system based on experimental results. Supporting the day-to-day operation and organization of the R&D laboratory. What we are looking for We are looking for someone early in their career with a strong experimental background in physics or engineering. Relevant backgrounds may include Physics, Engineering, Nanotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or closely related physical science and engineering disciplines.Hands-on experience with experimental setups, scientific instrumentation, sensors, measurement systems or laboratory equipment through academic projects, internships, research projects or previous work is highly valued.More importantly, we are looking for someone who: Is highly motivated and enthusiastic about experimental work. Is proactive and does not wait to be told every next step. Is curious and wants to understand why things happen. Enjoys working with their hands and building, adjusting and testing experimental setups. Learns quickly and is comfortable working across different technical areas. Is organized and careful when recording experiments and results. Is comfortable working in a dynamic R&D environment where priorities can evolve as new evidence emerges. Enjoys troubleshooting and finding practical solutions. Communicates well and enjoys working as part of a small multidisciplinary team.Basic experience with experimental data analysis is expected. Familiarity with Python or similar scientific computing tools is a plus. Why Nanological? At Nanological, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working towards a shared purpose: developing technology that can make a meaningful difference in the diagnosis of serious infections. We value curiosity, collaboration and people who are willing to learn from each other. We work in a friendly, supportive environment where ideas are openly discussed, different perspectives are valued and everyone contributes to solving challenging problems. You will join a deep-tech company where science and engineering are closely connected to a real clinical need, and where the work you do contributes to building technology with a clear purpose.
