Company Description The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya is an Institute of National Importance established under the NIT Act 2007 (amended in 2012) by the Parliament of India. It is one of 31 NITs nationwide and operates with full funding support from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Located in Meghalaya, India, the institute focuses on high-quality technical education and research across engineering and science disciplines. NIT Meghalaya offers a collaborative academic environment, modern laboratories, and opportunities to work on funded research projects that address real-world challenges.Role Description The Junior Research Fellow will work full-time on-site at NIT Meghalaya, India, contributing to sponsored research projects under the guidance of faculty supervisors. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, designing and performing experiments or simulations, collecting and analyzing data, and documenting research findings. The role involves preparing technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations for conferences or journals, as well as assisting in project-related administrative tasks such as maintaining records and supporting progress reports. The Junior Research Fellow will collaborate with other researchers and students, contribute to laboratory upkeep, and participate in academic seminars and meetings relevant to the project.Qualifications Strong foundational knowledge in the relevant engineering or science discipline, with the ability to apply theoretical concepts to practical research problems.Proficiency in research methodologies, including literature review, experimental design or computational modeling, data analysis, and interpretation of results.Effective written and oral communication skills for preparing reports, publications, and presentations, and for collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.Ability to work independently under supervision, manage time and tasks efficiently, and maintain accurate documentation of research activities.Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (as per project requirements) in a relevant field such as Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related disciplines, preferably with exposure to research projects.Familiarity with scientific software, programming tools, or laboratory instruments relevant to the project will be an advantage.Interest in pursuing research-oriented career paths and readiness to learn new techniques and methodologies.
