Our products and engineering solutions support customers across semiconductor, research, aerospace, life sciences, energy, and other advanced technology and industrial markets where quality, reliability, and precision are critical.As MDC Precision continues to invest in technology, automation, data, and digital capabilities across the organization, we are seeking a Junior Software & Web Developer – AI-Assisted Development to help build the next generation of applications, integrations, automation tools, and digital solutions supporting our business and manufacturing operations.Position SummaryThe Junior Software & Web Developer will work closely with technical leadership and internal business stakeholders to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain web applications, internal tools, integrations, and automation solutions. This is a hands-on development position designed for an early-career developer who is excited about using modern development technologies as well as AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT/Codex, and similar platforms. At MDC Precision, AI-assisted development is viewed as a tool for improving developer productivity—not as a substitute for sound software engineering. The successful candidate must be able to understand, review, test, troubleshoot, and validate AI-generated code and take ownership of the quality, security, performance, and maintainability of the resulting applications.We are looking for someone who is curious, technically capable, highly motivated to learn, and interested in applying modern software development practices to real-world manufacturing and business challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain web applications, internal business applications, dashboards, utilities, and automation solutions using technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript and Python.Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT/Codex, and similar technologies to accelerate development, debugging, testing, research, and documentation.Critically review, test, and validate AI-generated code before incorporating it into production applications.Identify and correct potential logic, security, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability issues in both AI-generated and human-written code.Develop modern frontend applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks such as React or Next.js.Develop and integrate REST APIs and backend services.Integrate third-party APIs and AI/LLM services, including platforms such as OpenAI and Anthropic.Build automation workflows and internal applications that improve business, manufacturing, engineering, and operational processes.Assist with database design, schema development, SQL queries, reporting, and data integrations.Use Git and GitHub for source control, branching, pull requests, code reviews, and collaborative software development.Assist with application deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and basic cloud infrastructure activities.Work with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP as required.Troubleshoot application issues, investigate bugs, identify root causes, and implement corrective solutions.Collaborate with senior developers, technical leadership, and internal stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.Participate in code reviews and contribute to software development standards and best practices.Participate in agile development activities including standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.Create and maintain technical documentation, READMEs, system documentation, and process documentation.Follow secure software development practices and maintain awareness of common web application vulnerabilities.Support continuous improvement initiatives related to software development, automation, systems integration, and internal technology solutions.Required Qualifications1–3 years of professional, internship, academic, bootcamp, freelance, or substantial project-based experience in software or web development.Practical development experience with at least one core programming language, preferably JavaScript/TypeScript or Python.Working familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT/Codex, or comparable technologies.Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, test, troubleshoot, and validate AI-generated code rather than accepting generated solutions without review.Basic understanding of modern web development fundamentals, including:HTML and CSSJavaScript/TypeScriptREST APIsModern frontend frameworks such as React or Next.jsFamiliarity with SQL and relational databases.Experience using Git/GitHub or similar version-control platforms.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Ability and willingness to learn new programming languages, frameworks, AI tools, and development technologies.Comfortable working in both Linux and Windows environments.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, fast-moving manufacturing and technology environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.Experience integrating OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or other LLM/AI APIs into applications, internal tools, or automation workflows.Experience building business-process automation or internal applications.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices.Familiarity with Docker or other containerization technologies.Experience with automated testing and modern testing frameworks.Basic understanding of application security and common web vulnerabilities.Experience with APIs, system integrations, data pipelines, or enterprise applications.Experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, semiconductor, scientific, industrial, or other technical environment.Portfolio containing 2–3 deployed personal, academic, bootcamp, freelance, or professional projects.GitHub repositories containing clear README documentation and examples of practical development work.Experience documenting how AI-assisted development tools were used to design, build, test, or troubleshoot software.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical/self-taught development experience.Skills
