Team members and volunteers can contribute ideas, gain exposure to cutting-edge work, and help influence how technology transforms health worldwide.Role Description This is a volunteer Junior Software Engineer role in a hybrid arrangement, based in Bala-Cynwyd, PA, with some work-from-home flexibility. The candidate must live in a commutable distance from PhiladelphiaThe Junior Software Engineer will help design, develop, and maintain software components that support AIHealthCongress platforms and digital initiatives. Day-to-day responsibilities may include implementing back-end features, writing clean and efficient code, fixing bugs, and assisting with integrations between web services and data sources. The role may also involve collaborating with senior engineers, testing and documenting software, and contributing to improvements in performance, security, and usability. The position offers an opportunity to learn in a real-world environment, build a portfolio, and support the mission of advancing AI in healthcare.QualificationsFoundational knowledge in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.Skills in Software Development and Programming, with experience in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, or similar).Understanding of Back-End Web Development, including APIs, server-side logic, and interaction with databases.Ability to apply Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts to write modular, reusable, and maintainable code.Interest in AI, healthcare technology, or digital health, and motivation to learn and contribute in a mission-driven environment.Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid setting.Enrollment in or completion of a degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and basic software testing practices is beneficial.
