With a strong customer-first mindset and a 5-star rating, the company sells over £100 million in vans annually and continues to expand.Role Description As a Junior Software Engineer at Vanaways, you will support the development and maintenance of software solutions that power our online van buying, leasing, and finance platform. In this full-time, on-site role based in Pill, you will work closely with senior engineers to implement back-end features, fix bugs, and improve system performance. Your day-to-day activities will include writing clean, testable code, participating in code reviews, and collaborating with product and operations teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. You will also help integrate third-party services, contribute to documentation, and assist in ensuring that our systems remain secure, reliable, and scalable.QualificationsStrong foundation in Computer Science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.Skills in Software Development and Programming, with experience in at least one modern programming language.Understanding of Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and ability to apply OOP principles in practical projects.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.Ability to learn quickly, take feedback constructively, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; interest in building scalable, reliable software for a growing business.£35,000 depending on experience.Please note we are not open to sponsoring/recruiters/remote roles.
