Apply & track with Apply EdgeJunior Software Engineer – eCommerce£40,000 – £50,000 + bonusManchester / Trafford Park – 4 days onsiteMy client is a fast-growing, international eCommerce business continuing to invest heavily in its technology and engineering capability.They’re now looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join the team, working alongside experienced engineers on the systems and integrations that power a high-volume D2C eCommerce operation.This would suit someone with around 1–2 years' commercial software engineering experience who wants to accelerate their development in a genuinely hands-on environment.This isn't a role where you'll be stuck maintaining one small part of a system. You'll get exposure across backend development, APIs, integrations, eCommerce platforms and cloud infrastructure, with plenty of opportunity to learn from more experienced engineers.What you'll be doingBuilding and maintaining backend services using Node.js / TypeScriptDeveloping REST/GraphQL APIs and third-party integrationsWorking across systems supporting eCommerce, payments, orders, inventory and fulfilmentIntegrating with platforms such as Shopify and other operational systemsWorking with AWS/serverless technologiesSupporting data flows between different internal and external platformsWriting clean, maintainable production codeTroubleshooting issues and improving existing systemsWorking closely with senior engineers and the wider technology teamWhat they're looking forYou'll have 1–2 years' commercial development experience and a good grounding in:JavaScript / TypeScriptNode.jsAPIs and backend developmentSQL or NoSQL databasesGit and modern development practicesAny exposure to Shopify, AWS, payments, ERP systems, order management, logistics or third-party integrations would be a big advantage, but they're not expecting someone at this level to have everything.It's a strong opportunity for an early-career engineer who already has some commercial experience and wants exposure to the technology behind a rapidly scaling eCommerce business.
