Job OverviewThe 1:1 Student Aide for Dwight School Hanoi’s ECD and Lower School supports an individual Preschool, Kindergarten, or Grades 1–5 student, in partnership with the homeroom teacher, learning support team, designated supervisor and families. The 1:1 Student Aide should possess a professional knowledge base encompassing various aspects, including a general understanding of inclusive education practices in order to recognize, understand, and respond to the individual needs of the learner with appropriate support and care. The 1:1 Student Aide will observe, support, and actively engage as part of the learning community to help the student participate meaningfully in daily routines and learning experiences. The 1:1 Student Aide will be capable of fulfilling assigned responsibilities consistently and reliably, while working closely with supervising adults to ensure continuity of support.Key ResponsibilitiesStudent-Centered Support and Care:Build a clear understanding of the individual learner’s strengths, needs, and support requirements through observation and guidance from supervising adultsProvide consistent, responsive support tailored to the learner’s needs, with attention to self-regulation, communication, and daily functioningPromote the student’s well-being, sense of safety, and belonging through calm, respectful, and supportive interactionsAccess and Inclusive Participation: Support the student’s participation in learning experiences, routines, and transitionsEncourage engagement alongside peers in inclusive learning environmentsHelp reduce barriers to participation while fostering independenceCollaboration and Professional Practice:Work in partnership with teachers, learning support staff, supervisors and familiesCommunicate observations appropriately, following the school’s procedureMaintain confidentiality and respectful relationshipsEmbodying the Dwight School Hanoi Mission and Values:Model patience, flexibility, kindness, responsibility, open mindedness, and a respect for others.Value and make productive use of the diversity of cultures and perspectives that exist in the school community.Undertake training and other learning activities and attend relevant meetings as required to continue professional development.Embrace the school’s Mission and Guiding Statements and put student learning first.N.B.: These key responsibilities are not intended to be all-inclusive.
